Has my cam belt been changed?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I recently purchased an 03 Blob, with 35k Miles on.

in my "book of my cars history" a cam belt changed is not mentioned but...

on my engine there is this sticker post-3545-0-18574300-1423483676_thumb.jp

which to me indicated the belts were changed at 29k miles (i know it says km but 18k miles sounds wrong for a belt change)

basically how do i know my belt has been changed? and how do i know if it had a full kit change,

as I was looking at £380 to have the full cambelt kit, but if I dont need to I wont.

any thoughts and ideas?

The belt does say Gates on and Micro-v, so is it safe to say it has been changed?

next step is, how do i know if it has had idlers and such and do i need them doing and so on?

Also the date corresponds with it being miles and not KM

no paperwork, which is odd as everything else has been documented.

I will replace all to be safe I think, expensive but it would be more expensive to get it wrong and leave a 12 year old belt on

I think that's best choice mate. At least you know it's done. And helps with any resell value.
