STi Clocks in 2.0R Impreza

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a 2007 2.0R-Sport and am looking to spend my money on aesthetic mods rather than waste it trying to squeeze power out of a non-turbo.

One of the things I was thinking of doing was installing STi clocks- could anyone tell me if this will work? Are the connections the same (ie plug and play), and will the speed and rev counter be accurate (I assume so as I believe it is all done with electronic sensors?). Finally, will there be any issues (other than IC spray light, LSD light and other lights that would flash up because my car doesn't have them)?

Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure should be fine the rev limiter light might need wiring properly but I think the rest should be fine. I know get ecu lights on if you put a hawkeye or a blobeyes cluster in a bugeye as they changed how the signal is sent so handbrake and ABS light stays on from memory.

So as long as I get a blob/hawkeye STi cluster, it should fit (just need to wire in the rev limiter light properly)? Also just had a thought about the mileage- i'm assuming the displayed mileage will be from the donor STi, not MY car's ECU? If this is the case, is there anyway to reprogram the mileage to the correct mileage for my car?

I believe so I can't see why it wouldn't work it's a straight swap from STI to WRX of the same years. I'm not 100% with it being a sport but I can't see how it will have changed. Best way might be to take your cluster out and take a picture from the top of it where the cables go. Should be 3 ports As you look at it a thin one on the right big fat one in the middle and a small fat one on the right.

Actually thinking about it there is a lot more dccd, water spray, Rear diff lights they might need grounding or blanking out, I'm going to go back on that it will work but isn't a straight swap. I'm not sure how many of the lights can be removed by pulling the bulbs out without looking. but I'm going to have to say it will need some work doing on it to work. Doesn't help i'm afraid I've not seen what a Sports clock looks like. Hopefully if you pull yours out and check with these

But there is work that has to be done if it was a WRX so I'm guessing will be the same work round maybe on the sports .

But looking at some people the STI swapped over with no issue so it could be a case of trial and error :(

No worries mate if your's look's like the WRX hopefully be the same fix does mean swapping a few wires and cutting a pin out to blank it. But as I said before Ive seen a few people just say they swapped them over and was fine

Little bit of a problem... The two 'outer' connecters are identical to the WRX ones... The middle one however has an extra two pins on each side of the connecter..

This doesn't make sense to me as surely my cluster would have fewer functions than a WRX or STI cluster ergo fewer pins- not more?

Anyway- this is beginning to look a bit more complicated than originally thought!

I'd agree weird that I'm with you. I'd have thought it would have been the same plug as both WRX and STI because they don't change anything really unless they have too :) one of the best things with Subaru :) But to have two extra pins I can't even think what they would be for, do they have wires too them as well ?

In short- yes and no! As you can see from the pictures it looks like subaru have used the 'eeny meeny miny mo' method of deciding where to put each wire...

Thinking it'd be a lot easier to convert the bulbs to red and wipe off the green coating on the faces of my original clocks than try and wire up an STI cluster!

I agree I'm sure mine has loads more wires than that. To be fair I've done the same I got an 07 cluster took the green out and replaced them with red bulbs. I did my heater controls too. But you have tempted me to have ago with the STI cluster now :D heatercontrols_zps01330720.jpg
