Hi

  My GC8 classic wrx has started to overheat. I think the thermostat is the problem, because the temperature gauge gets very near the top, while the radiator is only hot one end. (its had a new rad 6 months ago). Where is the stat located, possible to run without it  to eliminate it as the trouble.

Thermostat located at the block end of the bottom rad hose, you'll see it straight away. Easiest way to test is take it out og the housing boil the kettle and lob it in a bucket of hot water, it should open up. If nit it's fooked
