Hi,

After the car is well warmed up an occasional clonking or knocking appears when the car is braking, especially going downhill. It appears to be coming from just behind the right hand footwell. If I stop the car for any length of time it goes away but is prone to restart at a later stage. I took off the wheel yesterday to check all was well with the caliper and pads and nothing seemed amiss. It does not seem to be suspension related as it does not appear if i jjudder the brakes quickly. Grateful for any clues as to what it might be.

It might be the pads moving in the calipers, mine does it, especially when you change direction and then brake slightly.

Sounds like a worn bush or link

Get the car jacked up on the offending side and get a pry bar in to flex all the joints / links
