I think that's the amplifier/power supply for the aerial in the rear window

I still think it's a suppressor for quitening RF interference from, likely the rear wiper motor from causing interference with radio reception. There are no RF leads (aerial) leads going to that box anyway, which there are on the aerial amp and which is usually a similar sized silver coloured box.


Noise suppressor (which based on its location i would say that's what the box is):
