Legacy automatic - occasional big 'thump/bang' on gear change?

Hi,

My '55 plate Legacy automatic occasionally gives a huge bang/thump when changing up a gear - whole car feels it! Quite frightening. Otherwise runs fine. Any ideas?

Transmission fluid needs changing? Worn bushes on the diff can also give some pretty unsettling noises apparently...

Had this on my Jaguar, I went to the local dealer and they re-programmed the autobox. £30 and resulted in perfectly smooth and quiet gear change. Worth a try?
