Heater problem

Last couple days when i put the heater blower on its blowing red hot and freezing cold at the same time.what i mean is blows red hot passenger side of car and freezing cold drivers side of car.the centre vent on dash is 1 pipe but passenger side is hot and driver side is cold,how can it blow both at same time from 1 pipe .
