Andyfr
Hi, I have just joined the forum to get a bit more knowledge about the XV. I'm thinking about changing my car this year and a Subaru XV is on my shortlist. We live in the Highlands and get quite a bit of snow so four wheel drive isn't a luxury. Current car is a Freelander 2 GS Auto 2011MY owned from new. Don't like the Discovery Sport and am moving away from diesel anyway so it wouldn't be an option anyway. I intend to visit the dealers around Easter. The main things I will be looking at then will be the measurements of the boot, if a spare wheel is available (quite happy with a spacesaver) and the comfort of the seats, bit of lumbar support and not too hard. Anyway, I'll be checking out the forum when I can.
robin61
Hi, Have a look at the post 'How are you guys finding the XV'. It's a recent one in this section. There is some info there about the optional space saver spare wheel.

robin61
No bother. I must get myself one of these xv's either that or an Outback is what I fancy. Need to hand the company car back first though.
david1972
An XV or forester are both in my watch list for years ahead....I'm totally won over by Subaru petrol autos and long for the ride height of my old Foz Sent from my iphone using Tapatalk
robin61
Yes I will be going for petrol auto as well. I don't cover a great deal of miles so can' t justify diesel plus as I do a fair bit around town I am concerned about DPF issues with diesel. I like auto especially around town and a decent ride height. Yeah I know fuel economy will not be great but really unless it' s ridiculous as i don' t cover huge mileages it' not a big problem for me. david1972
I need better than my current 26mpg [emoji33], even though I don't do too many miles (7k last year) Sent from my iphone using Tapatalk
Andyfr
I quite like the Outback but the electronic parking brake puts me off, that and the extra cost.
robin61
I won' t be buying brand new I will probably go for something about 3 years old with low mileage. Too much depreciation buying brand new. I have been keeping my eyes open on prices on auto trader and there doesn' t seem to be a huge difference at that age. I think I would enjoy either car though so choosing is a nice problem to have. Andyfr
Went along to the Subaru dealer on Saturday armed with a tape measure so that I could find out the size of the boot. Length and width was okay but the height is too small, especially when a spare wheel is under the floor. Unfortunately that rules the XV out. We had a look at the Forester and the size of the boot is fine, but it's not the best looking of the Subaru range, even the dealer said the same.
