Hi I'm new to this I have been and got my self a wrx 2005 39,000 no service history it's had a cambelt. Now iv done a oil and filter on it now when I hold the car at 2500 to 3000 rpm I get a metallic rattle from the engine not horrible iv been driving it and it's got no worse sounds to me more os of the engine .any one got any ideas ?

Does it sound like something is lose? Maybe check the heatshield over the turbo (driver side, just below the intercooler). Does it rattle all the time or only at those RPM?

Only at those rmp if I rev it up hard nothing if I pick the revs up slowly and hold it there sounds to me like engine bit funny how it's got no worse .I'm a mechanic and work on cars every day it's just puzzling me could be a heat shield but sounds more metallic to me : (
