Morning all, just wanted to pickle your brains. So I hear on the grapevine (Hull scoobys) that impreza suspension will fit my hearse. I've asked numerous groups and forums this question but no reply and I notice that this forum aren't very quick with replies but I'll try anyway... So impreza suspension is possible for a swap, but am I able to swap impreza springs onto forester shocks?

Cheers in advance

Shaun

You can not put any other springs on the forester rear struts as it SLS tokiko suspension struts .

They have height adjustment system via valve ports and it hydraulically controlled using the struts stroke movement as a pump.
You change the spring heights/rates and system tries correct height changes caused by it .

Ahhhh thanks Mr B I was just trawling the net trying to learn a little bit with this being my 4th Scooby, but first forester. You just explained that in the simplest way that wasn't confusing at all compared to what I was just trying to read haha. Much appreciated, looks like I'm off back to stock then ☹️

Also, I presume fg suspension wouldn't fit a sg?

Impreza suspension don't work out that well without custom rear springs as they sag bit low (even wagon springs)

either go stock or kyb excel G with springcoil custom spring set to lower it just a little. Coilovers or over lowered suspension for B road use is not a good result in drivability or practicality, You end up trashing the underside, avoiding certain roads, dodging pot holes, drive slow compensate handling issues and can't even mount a small kerbing :-)

Haha I have had the car a couple of weeks and you have literally just described the daily missions I have to undertake. There's a 3" step into my little court, that's a twice daily task trying not to bottom out. Raised the front an inch last weekend and sorted it. But knocking on all four corners is really annoying me. As we have recently had a little monster, who isn't cheap to keep apparently, looks like stock is the only option I have 😞

It will handle way better on b roads on good condition stock than any lower cost or short stroke coilover kit .

2 new kyb struts for rear ar about £120, custom springs all round about £220 .

Forgot the clunking issue lol , that causes a driver cringe and frustration every rut :-)

It's pretty much a constant thing now, even on newly surfaced roads. The guy I swapped my impreza wagon for this had changed all drop links, all bushes seem legit, so the coilovers have to be the problem. I think stock, then hunt down some rims bigger than my 17"
