Hi i'm new to owning subarus and have previously just run around in cheap second hand cars which was fine until i spotted this car relatively cheap and look sound. Until easter weekend when is sounded a little rough and didn't idle to well almost sounded like running on 3. It still drives fine but i now have an oil leak at the rear of the engine and oil splatters over the rear of the car. Obviously i now think all is not right. Does anyone no if this is the begining of the end for the engine? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

knowing the diesel that not going be simple or cheap ... poor running and oil leaks on these are signs of bigger issues brewing generally ...

I am resigned to the fact that i might have to spend a bit of £ fixing it. I plan on keeping it and running it for the foreseable. Fingers crossed it doesn't get to silly cost wise.

The 2008 to 2010 diesel is a bottomless pit so do some research and spend wisely .

I've read a lot of horror stories over the last week or two so I'm preparing my self for the worst. Having said that i don't want to throw good money after bad. I may have to consider drawing a line under it and scraping as a runner before it pops at least I'd get some cash back!!  Thanks for the info.
