Hi all i am new to the whole forum thing I am a keen subaru fan after having a few Impreza's at the moment i have an Sti type UK but this has to go due to a growing family, i am keen on a forester but i want a sleeper as STI badges create unwanted attention, I want something that i can build in my own time when time and financies allow, i have read that the best car is an XT but what engine and year is the cheapest and easiest to modify, any help and advice would be greatly appreciated..

Hi mate welcome to S.O.C

I will hold off saying anything as I think Savage or Adam Tlag bip will give you the best info possible. Nothing like passing the book ;)

Wotcha and welcome - we also have a member from up north who put together a mean STI - he might be along to share some info ??

Thank you gents for the warm welcome.

I'm guessing Tlag and the following might not come in the fozzie room to much they have Legacy's/Impreza's  but know a lot about building the engines and upgrading :D

Got to be honest. I don't know a lot about Fozzies.

It's the same EJ20 block and ancillaries as the Impreza so no reason why you can't change things and fettle things in the same was as the Impreza. The XT is the closest in mechanical spec to the Impreza (other than the STI) so a good base to start with.
