Hi just getting my first Subaru.

2017 Forester 2.0i XE petrol cvt auto.

I've test driven 2 and both are jerky when pulling away. Especially in reverse.

You can let it dribble away without acceleration, as autos do, and it’s fine, but soon as you dab the throttle it’s a bit of a lurch/jerk as it goes off and away.
Thereafter it’s really smooth for general driving, it’s just when moving off from still that it jerks like the throttle is a hair trigger to operate. I can imagine this being really annoying in traffic jams or car parks.
I’ve been dead set on getting a Forester but not sure I’ll learn to operate it smoothly with time?

QUESTION- is this normal or is this a sign of something to fix?
is it only present on the non-turbo and likely smoother on the XT?

Im used to automatics and in comparison to others, this feels crude.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.
