outback cutting out 4500 revs

Featured Replies

owned my outback for 2 months now

2005 3.0 rn

when in neutral and reving up the other day so my mate could drool over the engine

it would only rev upto 4500-5000 revs then started cutting out as though there was a limeter fitted

took it up the road in sport mode and red lined it   perfect 7000 revs every gear. :o

anything to worry about?

thanks

timmy

ps i think this could be the best car i have ever owned :)

Can't answer your question, but the thought of 7000rpm made me smile....

....sorry...my bad  ;)

in neutral thats right mate has a rev cut as standard

my work van is the same, it has a sensor on neutral and also a clutch sensor, so won't rev high if clutch is pressed down

my impreza only rev's to 5k rpm when stationary, oh hang on, that's called launch control

i had mine to pop and bang in neutral :)
