GavLadLeeds
Hi all, Yet another problem with my 2006 wrx decat remapped scooby. I filled up yestersay with 97ron texaco fuel and noticed the kick from the turbo wasn't there. I barely feel the turbo at all now. Is there any links on here that show which hoses to check under the engine? I am a compete novice! I'm hoping it will just be a faulty hose kr clip for a quick cheap fix. Starting to lose my patientce with the motor now.
stants
Alright mate, just check all your hoses for splits or if they have come loose. Even if it's one at the intake side it will have a knock on effect. The ones around the turbo actuator (circular) shaped peice on top of the turbo shold have a t peice someomewhere underneath one should go to the boost solenoid attached to the top of the strut tower on the drivers side. One goes to the top of the manifold. Obviously check the intercooler hoses are on tight. Do you have an aftermarket dump valve on ? Sorry I'm at work and dont have a pictuee to hand gambit may be along in a bit with some diagrams Could always try pulling the Battery and resetting the ecu. GavLadLeeds
Thanks for the quick reply. No dump valve fitted. I will have another look tonight!
Gambit
Could be a faulty knock sensor even if it's not showing you a code. To spark plugs coil packs could be a few things have you read the codes at all, as one of the members found today his didn't have an ECU bulb in it :(
GavLadLeeds
It feels like a boost issue. I drove the car this evening and i can hear the turbo whoosh sound at all times. Sometimes the turbo will kick in too. I haven't checked the hoses yet. The Lights on the dash do work as I had an overboost light trigger it recently hence the remap I had done. Jolly Green Monster
Was the car mapped on texaco? Its not a very good fuel. If it was mapped for say Shell vpower the ecu will have detected knock and pulled timing and if bad boost as well. Try a decent fuel. Subaru engines like Shell vpower, tesco 99 and if there is no other choice esso 97. Subaru engines really dont like bp fuel. I believe texaco get there fuel from bp for the super, well its very similar power wise.
GavLadLeeds
He asked me what fuel i usually use. I told the mapping guy Vpower so you might be rightt but im sure he said you can use any fuel as long as it 97ron. Ive put Shell Vpower in. Will it cure itself if this is the problem? Jolly Green Monster
It may need an ecu reset. Usually a proper custom map is done to suit the fuel in the tank at the time
GavLadLeeds
I will ring the guy who mapped it tomorrow hopefully. Thanks for the info. These cars are sensitive!
Gambit
Yes they very sensitive with fuel more so if it's a Jap import.
GavLadLeeds
Just had an ecu reset. That has cured the boost problems. The specialist said that ecu is very clever and will try change the parameters :-/ .... Anyway looks like it will need tweeking by the chap who remapped it but for now I have full power back :-D just fallen back in love with my car
stants
Sweet glad it was an easy fix. In future if you need to do it again just disconnect the Battery for twenty mins
