nick Doyle Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Today I've had a full service on my wagon, new tyres wheel balanced and a thorough check over and may say it has smoothed the drive up so much. New bonnet with scoop and spoiler turn up tomorrow hopefully so although I've owned the car under a week I've already started. All I need now is an induction kit and new exhaust system as by the looks of it the previous owner bodged the system! Can't wait to post some before after pics 2
quit Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I wouldn't go for a induction kit mate , the maf is delicate and become easily damaged Ok if you wanna spend 80 quid on a new one every 3/4 months
BoofleGem Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 We don't have a maf sensor on a non turbo wagon.
nick Doyle Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 I only know that because of the encyclopedic knowledge of gem 1
BoofleGem Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 When I had my induction kit done my engine has a air temperature valve on top of it so that's connected to my induction kit pipe, I,'ve had mine fitted for 10 weeks now.
quit Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Just googled the engine of a na and can see the maf lol
nick Doyle Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 What would you do Matt instead of an induction kit, better quality panel filter?
quit Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Yep ! You loose power just slinging a induction kit on Take air box out , on the wing side drill 3 large 50mm holes and line the inside with mesh Install a hks or piper cross / k&n / rcm panel filter Then add a new cold feed if you wish
BoofleGem Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Mines been awesome since I had mine fitted, never missed a beat
nick Doyle Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 I know it's not going to give any extra power I just want a good noise. So all I would have to do is cover the holes with mesh, what kind of mesh?
quit Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Small stuff Gem I did the test on a rolling road , same day panel filter and cone in a na 2.5 v6 lost about 4 or 5 bhp
tom_gr7 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Mines N/A and I've got Maf. i think lol. I'm sure there was a video on mgihtcarmods about filters and cones. I will try and find it.
BoofleGem Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 This is top of my engine with a air temperature control valve
Ash007ks Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 my turbo 2000 runs an induction kit and so did my bug eye, Maf sensors are sometimes prone to failing, happened to a few mates but these happened on saxos. I for one love the sound of the induction roar.
