  1. I've got a WRX 2 litre turbo 2002 model. I had the yellow ems warning light coming on frequently over several months but no garage could diagnose the cause. Diagnostoic codes said "misfire" but the car was running perfectly. I found the most unlikely answer via another owners club site. It was said to be a faulty switch, located on the side of the gearbox, which tells the ECU that the car is in neutral. Why, on a manual gearbox would one need such a thing?? Anyway, I bought the part for £36 delivered, had it fitted in 10 minutes by my local garage and bingo! No more yellow light. Nobody more surprised than me (and my local garage) but I've done over 1,000 miles since and the problem has not recurred. Advice to anyone trying this fix: Buy the genuine Subaru part and make sure it's the right one for your car. The 6-speed one is different from the 5-speed and the model year is important. I hope this helps.
  2. One pair of Eibach Hub Centric Pro Spacers from 2002 Impreza WRX, purchased new in March 2013 for £105 and used for only a few hundred miles. Includes 10 wheel studs of correct length to allow original nuts to be used. Dedicated hub centric fitment and the safest way to increase clearance and track width. Made from high tensile strength aluminium alloy - aircraft spec. High grade corrosion protection, tested for durability and fatigue, quality approved to ISO/TS 16949. Includes balance of manufacturers 5 year warranty. Should fit 2001 to 2005 models, but do check before buying. Can post to any UK address for £5. I don't access this website often, so better to phone or email me if interested. Tel: 01307 840646 Email: [email protected]
  3. I had the same problem. For months, I thought the cable had broken. Today, I was browsing the owners manual looking for something else and found the solution by accident! Mine's a saloon but I guess the hatchback will be the same in this respect. On the part of the locking mechanism situated boot/tailgate lid there is a small lever which can be used to enable or disable the internal release system. The lever is on the RHS of the lock. To enable the system, it must be pointing to approx "5 o'clock". In the "3 o'clock position, the system is disabled and the boot can only be opened with the key. All this is in Section 2-10 of the owners manual. Give this a try. If it fails, the cable is probably broken.
  4. MODERATOR: ITEMS NOW SOLD. PLEASE DELETE MY AD. Thanks
  5. Wheels and tyres now sold on fleabay. I did offer to pm you with pics.
  6. Thanks for the advice and kind offer of help. The items are also advertised on Ebay and I've had acceptable offers, so may not need to post photos here.
  7. I haven't taken any so far. The description says it all. If you're a genuinely interested buyer, I'll take photos and send them to you privately. I'll need your e-mail address to do this.
  8. Standard wheels for Classic WRX pre 2001 and several other models which use 16". They will NOT fit Bugeye/Blobeye models which have 17" as standard, due to the clearance required for the 4-pot calipers. They are for sale because I bought them in error as winter wheels for my 2002 Bugeye, only to find that they won't clear even with 10mm spacers. Hence I'm reselling the wheels, tyres and spacers (see my other ad for the spacers). The wheels are PCD 5x100, in excellent condition, with no damage or buckling. The tyres are virtually new with at least 7mm tread remaining. They are Jinyu winter tyres 205/45/R16 which get excellent reviews for grip and handling in slippery conditions. I'm happy to arrange delivery at cost - max £30. Email via Subaru O C or tel 01307 840646 for more info.
  9. Top quality and in almost new condition. Just bought for my 2002 WRX but not fitted. Over 4 years of manufacturers warranty remaining. These have dedicated hub centric fitment specifically for the car and should fit models 2002 to 2005. Made from hi tensile strength aluminium alloy, aircraft spec, high protection from corrosion. New in March 2013, these had been used for only a few hundred miles when bought by me. Intended use was to allow fitting of 16" wheels with winter tyres, but still won't clear the 4 pot calipers. They're the recommended mod for widening track. One set needed for each axle. One set only being offered. New price £114 per set. Happy to post at small additional charge.
  10. Is there a part of the club site where members can buy and sell parts etc?
  11. Gambit, Thanks for the prompt reply. As a new member, I'm most impressed with the speed and quality of the responses to the few queries I've posted so far. One general question: It seems that each time I post, I need to open a new topic, rather than continuing an existing thread. Is this correct? Also, is there a way to search posts by subject, e.g. Wheels, Tyres, Gearbox, etc., whereby all posts about that topic are in one place? Kind regards, Stuart
  12. I'm planning to buy a used set of wheels to take winter tyres. Mine's a 2002 WRX blobeye (not STI) currently fitted with factory standard 17 inch wheels. I've been offered a set of OEM 16 inch rims removed from an earlier model (Classic I think). They are 7.5JJ with 40 to 50mm offset. I'm told that they will fit my car. Is anyone able to confirm this?
  13. I need 2 new rear shocks for my Impreza 2.0 Turbo 2002 model. I want to keep the car as near stock as I can and don't want to spend money unneccesarily. I've heard that Sachs are often fitted as original equipment and I'm inclined to go for those. Any opinions and/or other recommendations?
  14. Thanks for the prompt response. I dismantled the key and cleaned small amounts of green corrosion from the contacts. Problem solved!
