We have a guide on here in the how to section on how to read codes from the ecu. With a bit of what each code means. So please don't cut any wires haha. But the two wires are under the steering wheel well in the drivers foot well above the pedals in the dash you put together to put the car in the right mode to read codes. I'm on my phone at the minute. When I get on the pc later I'll link you too the post if you don't find it before. :)

I did this on the bug I'll see if I can find the place I bought mine from. They do full kit's.

Couldn't say if the was better same what I have on both blob and bug. Notorious for pistons seasing up. I've also on track days soon cooked my brakes which left me needing to slow down until they came back.
