  1. Just a quick update re. the front calliper rebuild - I checked with my local discount car spares dealer before buying the rebuild kit (about £69 from Frentech) and found that he could get aftermarket replacements for only £94 each, so to avoid what could have been a pretty messy job I went with those. Had to paint them red and add the Subaru stickers, but that seemed to be a bargain to me and they fit and work fine. When I removed the old callipers I found that they were in a really poor state, so it was a good decision. The rears are working OK at the moment, but I did ask about replacements for them and no joy, the shop and a couple of other specialist parts suppliers I tried don't have the rears listed, so I guess it will be a rebuild when the time comes or a big bill for OEM parts. I did check with ScoobyWorld and they do a refurb service by post for £250 a pair (front or rear) including shipping back to you, but you have to pay to get the callipers to them. Hope that might be useful.
  2. If you let me know what info you need from the Haynes I'll do my best to provide it.
  3. Thanks mate, really pleased I joined the club and the forum, just hope I have enough time to do the job before we are at war with Russia !!! 😞
  4. Hi gents - after a trawl online I found an ebay seller in Australia - user-friendly-manuals - from whom I bought a download of the full Subaru factory manual for my Impreza for under £5. All good and it has all the diagrams, step by step instructions etc. that I could need, but the torque settings don't include the ones for the bolts that hold the two halves of the calliper together so I still need those. I have trawled other forums and it looks like 68 newton metres should be used for the Subaru made callipers, but I need to confirm that. Please note that the value will almost certainly be different for the Brembo callipers as they are made from a different material. Jay - the Haynes manual is number 89080 and it covers: Impreza 2002 to 2011 Impreza WRX 2002 to 2014 Impreza WRX STI 2004 to 2014 Says it also covers Outback & GT models. To be honest, from what I've seen it isn't one of their best, I suspect it was Originally a US published Clymer's guide. The torque settings are given in a variety of inch pounds, foot pounds and newton metres so you will need to be very careful to get the right ones. Hope that helps. Cheers. Mike.
  5. Just realised, in my earlier posts I didn't note that the callipers I have are the Subaru cast iron/steel version, not the alloy Brembos.
  6. I just purchased a 61K miles 2007 WRX GB270 that is in pretty good condition but needs a little mechanical TLC, starting with the 4 piston front brake callipers, which are due for a refurb. This is well within my capabilities and I have already bought the rebuild kit, pads etc. but the Haynes manual I bought doesn't cover this exact model so has no info for the 4 piston brakes. Can someone please point me in the direction of a good workshop manual and also tell me the torque settings for the calliper mounting bolts and the bolts that hold the two parts of the calliper together. I'm planning to get the callipers powder coated so have to split them. Look forward to hearing from you. Cheers. Mike.
