  1. Ok, here we go. A few age related marks here and there, but for a 10 year old car I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the condition :D
  2. Just finished washing the pride and joy....will have some early pics to share soon
  3. No probs mate - I'm grateful for the advice :)
  4. Last major service at a Subaru dealer was done @ 102k and invoice has no mention of belts being replaced; just inspected. The most recent service @ 118k was done at an independent and no belts are listed on the parts invoice. Think I'll just have to take it to my trusted local garage and ask them for an honest appraisal of the belt condition. I can see no reason why it won't have been done twice as advised, based on the money the previous owner was happy to spend to maintain it. Looks like the belts are supposed to be done every 60k, according to the service schedule
  5. Have had a little time now to red through the invoices, service history etc. The car has done 128k with a full service history - just about due for it's next one, but supplying garage have changed oil etc, so can probably wait a couple of months. New front pads and discs recently fitted at 123k. New exhuast (full system) fitted by supplying garage before sale (literally still gleaming). Salesman said it'd had the timing belt done twice, but can only find invoice evidence of having been done once at 66k. New O2 sensor fitted about a year ago. All in all very happy with the quality and quantity of history. Think my original inkling that I've uncovered a little gem looks good on paper ;)
  6. Great stuff - do let us know when you do :)
  7. Just back from 50 mile drive back from garage to collect the car. Lovely driver, will post pics once it's cleaned up to my standards haha
  8. Says no topics
  9. Still no joy.....must be a problem with my pc and smartphone, so don't worry
  10. The link to that thread doesn't seem to be happy :(
  11. Confirmation today that I'll finally be getting my hands on the Forester on Saturday
  12. will be forthcoming once in my hands......worry ye not :P
  13. Bluetooth kenwood unit and microphone removed today and replaced with old factory unit....literally just the tax disc holding me back now...planning on next Saturday in my mind....
  14. I'm with you Stanton......want one for mine when I get it......think it makes it look a little more rugged :P and will help the dog to get traction getting in and out too haha
  15. Moved a step closer to getting my hands on the Forester today......replacement V5 has arrived for our trade in. Just waiting for the tax disc now, then it's all systems go :D Not too bad, considering I only posted things off to the DVLA on 17th and we've had the festivities in that period too :o
  16. The local office used to be good actually....clearly that didn't conform to the desired model as they shut it down ;-)
  17. One of the first things I'll do when I collect the car......the wait is killing me!! Nothing worse than being in the hands of the DVLA plate retention dep't
  18. what size tyre / rating etc are they......I only seem to be able to find a very limited range of tyres for what the interweb claims to be my size of 205/70R15 T 95
  19. Hopefully so mate......thanks for all of your help. I'll let you know the size of boots it's wearing once I've collected it in a couple of weeks time :)
  20. I'm not sure on that one.....the advert states 15" alloys
  21. Thanks Stanton :)
  22. Hello all, Just signed up yesterday after agreeing to buy an 03 forester....can't wait to pick it up in a couple of weeks and contribute to the forum community. Will post some pics once I have it. It's done 128k but comes with full and comprehensive history, including belt changes at appropriate times. Latest owner had it for 8 years and maintained regardless of cost. Hopefully I've found a little hidden gem
  23. 2004 would be great, thanks. I've always liked Goodyear too....which exact tyre is it you've been looking at? I agree with the "best you can afford" philosophy too....tyres, along with windscreen wiper blades, always come into this category for me. Thanks
