  1. yep, im currently on the aztec site now, and the reviews sound very promising. definitely buying a full set on friday!
  2. Cheers BoozyDave, i'll enquire about a full set and see what prices i get offered! :)
  3. Hi All, Looking to replace discs and pads all round on the scoob and stumbled across this deal on ebay. Has anybody had any experience with the "Mtec" discs? there are mixed reviews online, so was seeing if anyone with a Subaru has ever used them! heres the link to the ebay ad for the package.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Impreza-WRX-2000-2005-Brake-Discs-Front-Rear-Pads-/300305333266?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AImpreza&hash=item45eb97bc12
  4. Nah, most likely get a 200sx s14a I reckon, i miss my old Primera like mad, the sr20 lumps are indestructable. And at least the power will be going to the rear of the car rather than the front ha!
  5. oh it's definitely a dog, gearbox feels a bit !Removed!, so that will no doubt go next! and the bodywork is questionable in some areas. serves me right for buying it when it was snowy and covered in mud! patience is a virtue that i dont have, but i do now ha.
  6. I'm going to get it fixed then most likely get rid of it, spent more than half of what i paid for the car on repairs and maintenance, and that figure will only keep rising. best of quitting while i'm ahead with this one!
  7. Well it was easy to put the hose back on, the car still won't start though, it's off in the garage this weekend, and my mate will get it running. I've spent a week on it now and I'm stumped. Sick of this car now, it's the best car I've driven and it puts a smile on my face, but everything that could possibly break mechanically has. Absolute money pit.
  8. turn's out it was me being a numpty, the hose had popped off and sat next to it perfectly!
  9. Sorry here's the pics again.... engine in the car (new engine) Old engine thats sat on the drive...
  10. Hi everyone, Managed to source an engine and get it all fitted in place, having a few issues getting her started at the moment, so I've given everything a once over again, and found something which could be causing an issue. I have attached some photos, the first photo is from the engine which is now in the car, and shows a plastic piece which bolts into the rocker cover and has a hose running out of it. Next to it however, there is another connection sticking out which has no hose attached but looks like it needs one. The second picture is the one off my old engine, this doesn't seem to have the second connector. Can anyone tell me what hose should attach to this or if one is needed? My car is an 05 wrx, the engine I have just fitted was out of an 05 wrx PPP, (I don't know if this makes any difference). Let's see what difference's are first (sorry about the change of angle, I'm on my phone at the moment)
  11. I've found this engine today on Ebay, its from a 2001 bug-eye, will it fit? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-2005-SUBARU-IMPREZA-WRX-ENGINE-EJ20-INCLUDING-FREE-DELIVERY-/141085987368?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20d9615228
  12. Yeah i've downloaded the service manuals and had a quick flick through and it doesn't seem too complicated now i've seen the exploded diagrams!
  13. yeah i presumed it was something like that, im confused though, aren't STI's 2.5 litre's? yeah i'll be sure to buy all the appropriate gaskets and sealing agents , i'll take a look through your project thread now. (while i download the manuals) these cars aren't half complicated compared to my old Primera ha, that was a piece of **** to work on! Thanks for your help so far, its much appreciated.
  14. Cheers, i suppose that will give me a breakdown of parts cost, I'll just minus the labour as I'll be doing it myself, I've found a reputable machine shop near me that i can send the block off to get the cylinders re-honed to the new piston rings and the pricing is pretty reasonable. May as well make it like new again if im gonna shell out the money!
  15. Thanks for the info mate, i'll be sure to check it out. I'll get in touch with Luke and see what he says about the compatability. i was assuming it was something to do with the stud configuration when he said the heads werent compatible, however, i've also read something about "AVCS", but i dont know whether that is just the difference between WRX and STI heads.. its looking like its just gonna have to be a full strip down, then a rebuild with some uprated bits..... can see me spending a lot of money ha!
