  1. I have a Roadhawk HD dash camera on my other vehicle. Rather than use the Cigarette lighter cord I hard wired it into the fuse box ( using the Roadhawk hard wire kit ). I wired it into the fuse box into a fuse which is only live once the ignition is turned on. Could have wired it up to a permanent live but didn't want to drain the battery due to constant usage. I currently use the Roadhawk in the forester but connected to the lighter socket behind the hand brake, ( the front lighter isn't working for some reason ). :( I have received another Hard Wire kit and suction mount from Roadhawk which I want to install into my Forester 2.5XT so I can just move the dash cam between vehicles and plug it in. Could someone please advise on which fuse or line I should join into which will only be live once the ignition is turned on, preferably into the fuse box in the dashboard area if possible Thank You
  2. Finally discovered what the mystery switch is for. Found it by chance really. I was experimenting to see whether anything extra worked with the switch turned on but with no luck until my son just happened to walk past the front of the vehicle which caused an alarm to sound. Turns out that it is an isolator switch for the front Parking Sensors. I really liked the idea of it being an Ejector seat for the wife and kids, just open the sunroof and let them fly. :D Thanks for your help everyone.
  3. Thanks for the replies. It is a rocker type switch. Can't find anything in the User manual on this so I have been scratching my head. May have to experiment with it tomorrow afternoon.
  4. My youngster has been dying to press it but I won't let him because knowing my luck it will cause my pride and joy to become FUBAR. It seems to be a weird place to put a switch, especially if it has an important function. If it is a passenger ejector seat then I will take the wife for a spin through a steep sided mountain pass next weekend.
  5. 2005 Forester 2.5 XT I would like some information regarding the functions controlled by a certain switch please. Looking from the drivers foot well area the switch is on the tunnel console side trim roughly at knee level. It is a circular black switch with a white dot on it ( see attached photo )and looks like a simple On / Off switch but what is it for?. Thank You
  6. Thanks for the replies. Think I will give Tesco Momentum a try then and see how it goes.
  7. Very nice and your going to have to add a T on your user name now. Good Idea. :) Done. Thanks
  8. Yesterday I purchased a 2005 Forester 2.5 XT with Prodrive Kit. Forgot to ask the seller what fuel he preferred to use and I have around 2 gallons left in the tank so I want to make the right choice form the start. Is it highly recommended that I use a premium unleaded fuel in the XT or can I put some supermarket unleaded fuel in and use a suitable Octane Booster each time?. The closest Shell garage is around 6 miles out of the way from us whereas Morrisons, Asda and Tesco are on my daily route. What other brands would be suitable ie: Tesco Momentum 99?. Thank You
  9. A couple of quick photos of the 2.5 Forester XT that were taken this afternoon. Hope to get some better ones up during the week.
  10. Quick update. I'm so sorry but after viewing and driving her , I just couldn't resist so I am now a little poorer but the owner of a Silver 2005 Forester 2.5XT with Prodrive Kit. She doesn't quite have a full service history but plenty of stamps in the book.. Will try to get some photos up later. It is always risky when buying a car but let's hope she turns out to be a good one. Thanks
  11. Spuds. Looks like a " Grandad Car " Now that has got me thinking, no more " run me here, run me there " I will save a fortune in fuel. :) Hopefully going to have a good look and a quick drive later this morning. Thanks for the replies.
  12. I would be buying from a private seller so will check what has been done regarding servicing and especially regarding the belts, water pump etc. If the belts etc haven't been changed recently how much would it be likely to cost to get them done?. Are we looking at a couple of hundred pounds or even more?. The price of this Forester doesn't seem too expensive compared with some 2004 / 2005 Foresters that I have seen plus it is fairly local. Many of the decent looking ones always seem to be hundreds of miles away either Up North in Scotland or Down South. No harm in going to have a good look and ask a good few questions. Thanks
  13. Thanks for the replies. I have done a HPI check and that came back as clear with the correct VIN Number and Engine Number. It will have 12 months MOT but I will need to have a good look at the service history which is not a complete service history but will ask about Cam Belt changes etc....
  14. Been thinking about getting a Forester 2.5 XT with Prodrive kit fitted but would like some advice please. Would I notice a big difference between driving a Prodrive 2.5 XT Forester and a standard Forester 2.0 X please?. I know that the insurance would be a little more expensive and it would use more fuel but would the driving experience be worth the extra expense.? Have seen a nice looking 2005 Forester with Prodrive Kit with @ 150,000 miles on the clock,, would that mileage put people off buying it?. Anything extra to look out for on a Forester Prodrive before buying?. Thank You
  15. Thanks for the replies. The seller only has one key / fob as he has misplaced the second key / fob. My friend decided not to go ahead with the purchase as it is always better to be in possession of a spare key and fob so he is still on the lookout for his first Subaru Estate Now he can't decide whether to go for a Forester 2.0X, 2.0XT or even a 2.5XT. He is able to get relatively cheap insurance due to his age and the amount of years no claims discount. I mentioned to him about getting a Legacy estate 3.0R Spec B with 6 speed Manual gearbox as they are surprisingly inexpensive to buy. I would imagine that the Legacy with the 3 litre engine and 6 speed box would be an effortless driving machine and would love to try one. Thanks Again.
  16. A good friend is about to buy a 54 plate Forester X but it only comes with one key and fob, the seller has lost it :( . How much roughly will it cost to get a key and fob for a 2005 Forester please?. The seller may well reduce the price in order to compensate for only one key and fob. Thank You.
