  1. Will try using a PP3 Battery and crocodile clips. Thank You Mr. B
  2. Thanks Mr B. Have seen EOBD memory savers for £19 which connect to another 12 Volt car battery but don't fancy paying that much. Will 9 volts be sufficient to save the ECU settings and trip records also please?. I was originally thinking of using Jump Leads from another car battery connected to the battery leads on my Legacy. Thanks
  3. I ended up purchasing a Yuasa HSB005 battery for the Legacy. Just waiting to fit it one dry day without hopefully losing the ECU settings etc. Must decide whether to use Jump Leads or one of these EOBD Battery Memory savers. Thanks
  4. The time has come to replace the battery on my 2005 Legacy Spec B. The battery ( a cheapo which was fitted when I bought the Legacy )is over 5 years old now and is struggling to hold it's charge, especially when left for days at a time. A couple of times now on early morning start ups the alarm has sounded and the engine just managed to turn over. I have charged the battery up a couple of times now and it still struggles to hold charge for more than a few days. The time of year dictates that Head Lamps and Demisters are on for most journeys which doesn't help. Have been looking at the Bosch S4024 and the Yuasa HSB005 batteries. Thank You
  5. I will try my old discount card out when I go to Halfords on Monday. Thanks
  6. Thanks for the reply Gambit. I will renew my membership now so hopefully the card will still work.
  7. I cancelled my automatic subscription to Premium Membership as I don't like automatic renewals. My subscription will have expired by now I think so how do I renew my membership without signing up for auto renewal please? Will I be able to use the same discount card once i have renewed? Thank You
  8. Will be on the lookout for your Forester. Good Luck.
  9. Basically I chose the Legacy with a manual gearbox as that is what I am used to driving. I am sure that the Subaru automatic gearboxes are very goo especially when coupled to the H6 engine..
  10. No. I was looking to buy either the 3.0 Litre Outback or the 3.0 Litre Legacy ended up buying a Legacy Spec B estate. It was a choice between a Legacy 3.0 RN Auto Estate or a Legacy 3.0 Spec B manual estate. Both were very nice but I eventually decided to stick with the manual gearbox version.
  11. Thank You. She does look nice but hope to spruce her up a bit with a good polish and a valet when I can get chance.
  12. Managed to take a quick photo of the Legacy yesterday. Not the fastest colour ( silver :P ) but she is more than fast enough for me. Apologies as she has yet to be pampered as I have just been so busy lately. Hope to get chance to give her a wash and polish soon then will drive her to somewhere nice and post some better photos. Haven't had chance to drive her much yet but I already appreciate just how much I missed having a Subaru estate in the family. :)
  13. Hope to take some photos of her ( the Legacy, not the wife :P ) later in the week. Thanks
  14. Sad to hear that you are having to depart with your Subaru. Been there. Done That, didn't want to but needs must sometimes. I finally managed to get another Subaru this weekend and realise even more now, just what I was missing. Hope you still remain a member of this forum and that you get another Subaru in the near future. You have made a good choice with the Golf diesel, they are quite good, just not a Subaru. Good Luck.
  15. That's great news Gary. Good show to Neil of Car Factory too for offering you that option.
  16. Yes Indeed I have. :) I am now the proud owner of a Subaru Legacy Spec B estate, 6 speed manual. Eventually decided to go for a manual rather than an automatic just for personal preference reasons. Took my wife out for a quick trip this afternoon and even she is impressed. She does say that it doesn't look as sporty or eye catching as the Silver Forester 2.5 XT but I am inclined to disagree and think it looks very smart and stealthy. Hope to take some photos soon . Thanks to everyone who helped me to convince her with reasoning ( and chocolates etc... ) that a Subaru is much better and safer than a 998 cc sewing machine engined super mini. Will I have to change my username now?. ;)
  17. Thank You Will have to have a good think regarding which one to go to look at if they are still available.
  18. Thanks David. Just got my insurance quotes through for both vehicles and I'm confused now:- £341 2005 Legacy Spec B 3.0 Fully Comp zero no claims on a second vehicle. £413 2005 Legacy RN 3.0 Fully Comp with zero no claims so £72 more expensive. I would have thought that the Spec B would be more expensive to insure than the RN. Do you have to use premium unleaded petrol such as V Power or Momentum 99 for the 3.0 Boxer Engine?. I had to use premium fuel in my Forester 2.5 XT Thanks
  19. david 1972. I was wondering would the Legacy with manual transmission be better for driving on wet, icy or other slippery surfaces in terms of control due to being able to disconnecting the power to the wheels by depressing the clutch?. Forgive my question but it stems from years of driving vehicles with manual transmission. I did own a Volvo V70 T5 auto once but that didn't get used on snow or ice. I believe that the interior specifications are very similar between the RN and the Spec B. It is the differece in mileage and the manual vs auto that will probably decide it. One thing I did notice was that according to official figures, the fuel economy seems better in the 5 speed auto than in the 6 speed manual which doesn't sound logical. Thank You
  20. Update. Missed out on a couple of the Subaru 3.0's that I had in mind. Can only view and test drive at the weekend due to work commitments so other people snapped them up. Have found two more that I like. 2005 Legacy 3.0 Spec B 6 speed manual which has covered @ 150,000. 2005 Legacy 3.0 RN with 5 speed auto box which has covered @ 107,000 miles Both look nice, have have leather seats and sat nav etc. The Spec B manual is more expensive and has done 150,000 miles. Lots of service history but more than one owner. The Legacy RN Auto is @ £300 cheaper than the Spec B and has covered @ 105,000 miles, full service history and one owner. Both are miles away ( as usual ) but are also in the opposite direction to one another so I will only really get chance to view one or the other. Which would be better, I can't decide so would like some help and opinions please?. The Spec B should handle a little better then the RN due to the suspension. Are the auto's better to drive than the manuals please as I imagine that power, performance and fuel economy would be similar. Your opinions are appreciated. Thank You
  21. Am I correct in thinking that the Pre 2004 Outbacks had a 4 speed auto box whilst the post 2004 models have a 5 speed auto or is that the Legacy 3.0 auto's?. Thanks
  22. Will have to investigate the older pre 2004 Outbacks online now as it is offered at a good price..
  23. david1972. I notice that your Outback is the newer model than the one I am looking at which is a 2003. According to the dealer specification it has 207 Bhp, is automatic and does up to 36.5 Mpg. The newer 3.0 engines show 241 Bhp. Thanks
