  1. Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone with good knowledge of JDM VAB STIs or access to Subaru EPC can help. My cousin has what appears to be an early Japanese WRX STI, which his father has given him. The details are: Model: CBA-VAB Applied Model: VABA4FH Chassis: VAB-004666 Gearbox: TY856UB9AA Paint: K7X WR Blue Pearl Plate engine model: EJ20YHG9LJ The engine itself is also stamped EJ20. However, my UK V5C says: Engine capacity: 2457cc Engine number: NOT KNOWN This doesn't seem to tally with the Subaru identification plate or the engine stamping. I'm trying to establish whether: VABA4FH should have left the factory with an EJ20 (1994cc)? Does anyone have access to Subaru EPC or FAST who could confirm the original build specification for VAB-004666? Has anyone seen the DVLA register a JDM VAB with the wrong engine capacity before? Is there any way of obtaining the original Japanese build sheet or export records from the chassis number? The car was first UK registered in October 2025 on an age-related LB64 plate, so I'm wondering if an error may have been made during the import registration process. I'm not trying to increase the value of the car or make any claims, I'd just like to establish what Subaru actually built so I can correct the V5C if it's incorrect. Any help from people familiar with VABs or with access to Subaru factory data would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance.
