Thanks for the welcome. If I can work out how I will post some pictures. The SVX is a 1992 official import, sold to a Leicester business owner by Hexagon, and has reg K1SVX. He used it for a couple of years then put it in a dry garage, taking it out for an annual service and MoT.
I bought it in December 2012 and luckily we have a Subaru specialist API just round the corner. They gave it a thorough service and checkout , with all new belts and fluids, particularly gearbox and diffs.
I was lucky enough to find a spare gearbox on e bay for peanuts, as an insurance if the gearbox ever gives trouble, at the moment it,s fine but this is supposed to be the SVXs only weak point.
The bodywork is almost perfect, it,s in the metallic burgundy colour. The engine hums like a turbine and sings up to 7000 revs, but not very often!
The tyres had plenty of tread, but 20 years old so had to be replaced. It's only outstanding problem is leaky air con but that can wait until the weather gets hot.
Sorry I won,t be able to get to Japfest . I take the car regularly to Prescott and Shelsley Walsh where I commentate, and I will probably take it to Goodwood Revival where I do the aviation commentary, and Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.
According to How Many Left there are only about 60 SVXs left and when they come on the market they are ridiculously cheap. Spares are available from some Subaru dealers and on e bay and there is a thriving community in the States.
It is a wonderful car and high time it was recognised and valued as a classic.
