  1. Got Yokohama geolanders on my 05 fozzer. Haven’t seen snow yet but otherwise seem great. Look like they’d do fine in the snow.
  2. Thanks for the comments Mr B. Thanks to the Xmas budget the Subaru budget has taken a dent. Fitted the spacers to the rear shocks today, in doing so had to remove the top mounts. Shocks seem in pretty good nick so they can wait til next year. It’s now sitting level and the headlights are back to shining on the road! For £35 I’d say they’re a great stop gap. The car has a full set of (almost new) Yokohama all weather tyres which are great. Quiet and not unsettled at all by deep water, leaves etc. Can’t wait to see some snow with it, rear diff is limited slip like my wrx so great fun to be had 🤪 In conclusion I can’t believe how much fun it is! It looks like a boring family car but will sail away from traffic lights like a stabbed rat, happy to chuck it into the twisty stuff and all the comfort of heated seats and the like. Next job is to give the leather interior some much needed attention. Autoglym to the rescue. They’re not really that dirty but desperate for some treatment to soften the leather. So far the Autoglym leather care balm is working wonders. I’d recommend it for sure.
  3. Hi all, just added an sg (06) forester to the family. I’ve had a 2004 wrx for 6 years so already a big Subaru fan. The forester is low miles and is the 2.5xten model. Rear suspension is a little saggy so planning on adding the spacers to correct this. Few other little niggles on the car but nothing major. So far I live this car - goes like sh*t of a shovel and is so comfortable. The added benefit is that when I get back in my wrx it feels like a racecar 😎 just wondered if there are any other little upgrades the foresters benefit from early on.
  4. this is how it looks on the car. It's the standard bar with some hamerite applied.
  5. About 05 I think.
  6. Hi all, not been on here for ages but thought this was worth sharing. Being a mechanic I see loads of different cars and obviously parts. One thing that jumped out at me was the front roll bar links on Audi A6's. They're very similar to the rear C shaped links on the rear of wrx's (mines a blob eye so not 100% on earlier / later models). So I've just finished installing a pair of Audi links on the back end of my wrx. Only addition needed is a 10mm washer to take up the slack on track arm mount. I also drilled another hole next to the original on the bar to make it a little stiffer. Made a world of difference. Best bit is the whiteline arb links are £150+ and the Audi links are about £25 each. Eurocarparts keep them in good quality brands along with powerflex bushes so I'd recommend them on price. I also fitted the front wishbone caster correction bushes - also from euros - HALF the price of anywhere online!
  7. Well the original pub I suggested has died a death somewhat so I now have a new local. Family and dog friendly and decent car park. It's called the black lion in Naphil. I'll post the website in a little while. Suggest some dates people and copy yourself in on whichever suits!
  8. I think we'd best try and rearrange for a date that suits a few more people. Not any confirmation apart from Keith thus far!
  9. Gambit, that'd be good if you can put it up on the Facebook page. Maybe the first Saturday in October would suit better, which would be the 4th?
  10. How about we move the date? Would be nice to get something sorted - there's no rush.
  11. Just been reading up on the new wrx/Sti. I was just wondering if Subaru have lost their way slightly with the new model. Firstly I'd like to point out I've not driven one so I'm basing this on figures only. It just seems like the out going model isn't quite as rally car as previous models. Now, I don't want to upset anyone here but the hatchback models weren't a patch on the saloon models and I wonder if Subaru have made the impreza too much of a marketing product rather than a rally bred car on sale to the public. Having driven a few impreza's the choice I'd make would be the wr1, or a widetrack import '05 ish. Huge power, twin scroll turbo etc, great handling and big smiles a guarantee. Is this the case with the new model? I'm just curious btw....
  12. Can we get some final numbers to this one guys? Possible change of location-there's a pub just up the road where the manager is a big Subaru fan (having sold his due to having a family) who I'm sure would love to have a few scooby's in the car park. Awaiting replies!
  13. Sounds good, I'm sure the landlord will come up with something that suits, he's pretty good.
  14. Lol, I'm the same. Girlfriend once opened a bottle of coke in the car which promptly exploded. Horizontal line of coke all the way round the interior. There is now a 'no eating or drinking' rule.
  15. Yep, kids, dogs and has even been know to accommodate to odd horse for a drink!
  16. http://www.thekingwilliamivspeen.co.uk/contact-us/index.html Here's a link!
  17. Ok. Let's go with the 27th September. How's this for the rest of you?
  18. Hi all. Thanks for the interest so far. I'm just waiting to hear back from the landlord but I've suggested the 1st or 2nd Saturday in September. How does this work for everyone?
  19. Not happened yet, I need to post a couple of dates to see when people can do. Will get this sorted next week people!
  20. Just to round off this little topic and say thanks for the replies I've had my carbon spoiler on for a few weeks now. Not that I've exceeded any speed limits but even up to 120mph it doesn't move at all. Not even slightly. I would say to anyone fitting an aftermarket spoiler be prepared to make it fit. The advert says it'll fit perfectly but not the case. Took a lot of trial fits before I was happy with it and thank god my body shop guy is awesome. The other thing about it is I wasn't aware of the puddles that form on the boot now!
  21. What's the prob? Still unstable under braking?
  22. Spacers are not looked kindly upon by insurance companies. Depending on thickness they're fine, just make sure you have enough stud left to screw on the wheels nuts. To convert to widetrack is a lot of parts and work. The drive shafts are different, front and rear arms, rear diff and 6 speed gearbox unless you can get custom driveshafts to convert wrx box/diff to widetrack hubs. Don't forget more offset means more stress on wheel bearings!
  23. Not sure about upgrade for the bearings. Basically the wrx had smaller bearings than the sti, hence the stud pattern difference, where the sti is 114 pcd the wrx is only 100. Offset is used to position the wheel bearing in the middle of the width of the wheel. Ie half way between the outer and inner rim. A lower offset like et35 pulls the outside of the rim away from the bearing which will the exert more stress on it. Hope that makes sense! Btw, I'm pretty sure the wheel bearings come as hub units and are bolt on/off. Not just a case of pressing in and out and therefore are quite expensive.
  24. Have a look at momo 'rush' wheels. They come in 17x8j but the offset is pretty low so they'll sit quite far out. Less stress on gearbox but more on wheels bearings. They'd give a flush look tho and fil the arches. I almost bought a set but was lucky to find a set of bbs multi spoke!
  25. The lower the offset number the further out they sit. So et30 would sit further out than et40. I thought the pff only came on sti models, which had much stronger boxes lol.
