New 2015 Sti leaking from rear-diff.....
ScoobyDev replied to thehulkster699's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
Sorry to revive an old post... Mines just started doing the petrol fillet cap jamming thing... Brilliant! Anyone want to buy it off me? -
2014 WRX STI, plenty of attention.

I'd be really interested in an update when you have the sensors, thinking about getting some myself. Also be good to see the pics of the finish! -
New 2015 Sti leaking from rear-diff.....
ScoobyDev replied to thehulkster699's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
No worries, I'm almost with you. A couple of times since I've got this thing, I've weighed up my options in swapping it in. It's a really hard thing to describe, i do love the car... and it's by far and away the best car I've ever had. I've been a scooby fan for years, but there are just so many compromises on the car, and you really do have to rev the b****ks off it to get the speed and power you expect. Maybe we're expecting too much? -

Sure man... It's here: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/2015-sti-discussion/271395-fuel-door-wont-open.html Having a browse through those forums really highlights all the issues that are appearing, there's a thread on there about leaking rear diff too. -
New 2015 Sti leaking from rear-diff.....

Yeah it looks like this is another 'known issue' with this STI... A quick search on the other forums (those who must not be named) shows a lot of owners complaining about this over in the US. The fit & finish build quality on this car leaves something to be desired! -
New 2015 Sti leaking from rear-diff.....
ScoobyDev replied to thehulkster699's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
For what it's worth, I had the garage give it a good check over when I took it in... There was no evidence of a leak, what I was seeing was just the waxy protection that's applied to the underside of the car. So it doesn't appear to be happening to all of them. I'm at just over 2k miles now. -
New 2015 Subaru Wrx Sti - getting in May/June!
ScoobyDev replied to thehulkster699's topic in New Members Introductions
For what it's worth Subaru state a GFV of around £13k at 4 years old, assuming 40k miles on the clock. How accurate that will be is anyone's guess but it's a ballpark figure! -

Well there's arguments for and against running in, it's not just for the engine. But trivial matters aside, glad you are loving it! You won't see another one on the roads over here, that's for sure! -

ScoobyDev replied to thehulkster699's topic in New Members Introductions
Hmm, well I suppose I'm glad it's not just me! Don't get me wrong, I knew I wasn't buying German quality and perfection, but I didn't expect this level of rattling. I suppose the good news is that they checked the rear diff for me, and no leak... @majik Where would the heat shield rattling sound be coming from though? Not the doors surely? I assume you were referring to OP for pics high spirits? Not wanting to hijack this thread but have any other '15 owners had problems with rattling? Its been in the garage today for a couple of rattles but driving home they're still there, and worse, the drivers side rear door has started rattling now!? -

Awesome! Hope you're enjoying it, if your area is anything like mine you'll start having conversations with all kinds of people, the car is a real talking point, especially amongst other scooby owners! -

ScoobyDev replied to thehulkster699's topic in New Members Introductions
Haha, thanks! Yeah, I've basically been saving and saving so put up with a rubbish car for ages! I broke the car in gently (at least that's what I told everyone, really I was breaking the driver in! Haha) -

Hahaha, yeah fair enough! I'm probably not best placed to comment on the speed! -

New 2015 Sti leaking from rear-diff.....
ScoobyDev replied to thehulkster699's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
Oh okay, that makes me feel a bit better then! Thanks! There's definitely no drips and no oil spots on the drive. I'm guessing I probably shouldn't have just put a massive finger smudge in the waxy protection then!! :( I'll just ask them to take a look over it when I drop it in next week I think! -

Le bugger... It's booked into the garage next Friday for some rattles and whatnot. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see what they say! -
New 2015 Sti leaking from rear-diff.....
ScoobyDev replied to thehulkster699's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
Oh damn... Just looked under mine and there's what can only be described as green 'goop' on the underside of the diff... It's not visible dripping though, does that mean it's leaking? I have no idea of the consistency of the oil that's meant to be in there? -

Hey guys, good to see some other '15 STI owners. I've had mine about a month and a half now! Got to say I'm certainly not wishing it had more 'oomph', it still feels pretty fast to me! Really interesting to see all the options as dealer told me there were no options available! Hmm! -
2015 WRX STI Leaking Suspension Damper?
ScoobyDev replied to ScoobyDev's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
Haha, well it's good to know I'm not the only one, thanks!! Yeah, I'm liking the car! To be honest I've only done around 500 miles in it so I'm still in the break in period. It's also the first performance car I've ever had so I'm probably not that well placed to do a proper 'review' but I do know that it accelerates stupidly quickly, stops stupidly quickly, and handles everything in between beautifully! It's a tad on the rattly side for a new car, but it's a scooby so you don't expect German smoothness! But yeah in general I think they've done an awesome job... I'll post a proper review once I've reached 1k miles and can open it up properly! -
2015 WRX STI Leaking Suspension Damper?
ScoobyDev replied to ScoobyDev's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
Update, just driven it with no air con and no dripping... Feel like a bit of an idiot now, but the car is my baby so I guess I'm allowed to worry! :) Thanks again for your help!! -
2015 WRX STI Leaking Suspension Damper?
ScoobyDev replied to ScoobyDev's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
Aha, didn't even think about that! Yes it was really muggy so I had the air conditioning on, it's dried up now and stopped dripping so I'm guessing it's not the suspension damper as I first feared... I'll take it for a quick drive without the air con and see if it still drips! Thanks a lot for the advice!! -
Hi All, So today I was walking back to my car on the forecourt (Yeah, it drinks a lot!) and noticed a pool of water under my car by the front left suspension. Now it had been drizzling earlier that day but not enough I would imagine to create a pool like this after a few minutes. Unfortunately it's been raining ever since, so I can't tell if it's leaking or just channeling rain water down to the front left suspension damper for some bizarre reason. Anyone got any advice to help me identify if its leaking or not? The garage is a fair drive away, so don't want to waste a trip!! Cheers
-
Well guys, I have it... It's everything I imagined and more. I'm still getting used to it to be honest, the step up from the 1.4 fiesta is a massive one, 60 in the scooby feels like about 20 in the fiesta! Getting paint protection & detailing done professionally in a week or so, so I'll leave the pictures until then!!

Haha, fortunately I saw that thread before ordering... I managed to get the matts for free!
