  1. Thanks, from what I can find out it looks like it uses the same setup as the Impreza STi. Looking at the diff there are no markings on the bottom so the only way to tell for sure is to remove it and see what markings are on the top :(
  2. Anyone got a rear diff for a JDM Forester STi, mine is on it's way out and I'd like to replace it rather than remove it and wait for it to be rebuilt? Thanks Dave.
  3. I have the 6 speed box in my FSTi and it has a lovely short shift as standard
  4. Thanks I'll look at the KYB Ultra SR ones and let you know how I get on.
  5. Hi, I need to replace my rear shocks on the STi, I have been toldf I could use shocks from Pedders (see link below) and I wondered if anyone else has had any experience with them? I don't have self levelling suspension on the STi so it should be a straight swap. http://www.pedders.co.uk/pedders-shock-absorber_p4509312.htm Thanks Dave.
  6. Hi, I have a 2004 Forester STi (Japanese import) and the pinion bearing on the rear diff is on it's way out. I'd like to get a replacement diff before removing this one so I need to identify which one is fitted. I looked underneath today and the only markings I can see on the bottom of the diff are "03 Y" and "KX 43". Neither of which seem to help! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dave.
  7. Sure I'll put some in the gallery later in the week
  8. Yep oil level checked, unsurprisingly it was very clean oil so I assume the previous owner tried the new oil trick to see if it cured it. Sadly not. I took it to a Subaru specialist in my local village who confirmed the diff issue and that the rear shocks are "shocking" (sorry couldn't help myself).
  9. Sorry no link as they are a very small outfit and don't advertise on a website as far as I know. Their website is www.bentensautocare.co.uk , I'm happy to get more details if anyone is interested, they setup not too long ago after the Subaru dealer in West Malling, Kent they worked for closed down. Clive the mechanic is excellent and knows all the Subaru range backwards. I took my STi there to be checked out after I bought it as I was concerned about the diff (correctly as it turned out).
  10. Thanks, from what I understand the running gear will be the same as the Impreza STI. I'll be pulling the numbers off the diff once the festivities are over and I can get back to the important business of cars :)
  11. Bought my Forester STi a few weeks ago. It's completely standard apart from the tow bar. It was imported in 2007 and was converted to mph by the dealer who imported it and has covered ~85,000 miles. I'll be posting questions on where to get spares as it needs a replacement rear diff and rear shocks
  12. There's a very original P1 low mileage (approx. 50k from memory) for sale in Kent at a Subaru specialist if anyone is interested.
