Ok so i managed to get a good offer in for the blue scooby i linked its got the standard mods, it has a full service history but the current owner has it he will pass it onto the dealership who will then pass it onto me. £4.5k for a 2.5 unmolested 2006 hawkeye with leather heated seats, electric skylight sounds good, 86k on the clock may be a bit much for the mileage but its reflected in the age of the car Or for the same price i can get a 2.0 wrx with 78 on the clock, i dont think that 10k would make such a difference, but i was thinking of driving it down to the scooby clinic in Worcester and having it looked at soon after purchase.
-
That looks a brand new Subaru WRX, do they have the same engines ?
-
Found this on the offical Subaru website :
-
gosh if the subaru mechanic thinks the 2.5 are bad then that puts me off a little. Was the hawk you saw the STI version ? so i went to see the silver Imprezza i linked here the other day It was sold yesterday !!!!!!!!! Ahh i took so long to find it too ! tell me about it the good ones are in aberdeen scotland and wales !
-
the WRX hawk you saw at a dealers if i bought the wrx 2.5 what would i need to do ? rebuild the engine ? remap ? Anything else ? The silver blob eye has everything i want and need, i may drive down on Tuesday and have a look at the baby
-
How much was it ?
-
I love this i really do but its silver if it was blue i would buy it in a flash: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321677747035?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT It has all the upgrades and has keyless entry and an awesome remote start ! This car i like but how easy is it to remove the stickers ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Impreza-2-0-WRX-PRO-DRIVE-RALLY-BLUE-2005-FACELIFT-/141576418044?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20f69cb2fc this is the one i really really want : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151587692653?_trksid=p2060778.m2763.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT But after hearing about the engine and the road tax i am in a double mind
-
£285 ? So the fuel difference is marginal ? My main concern is the fuel running costs So how often are engine fails ? do the occur often ? Sweet i need to find this, how can you tell as they dont give the exact date the car was registered So the £500 road tax is due in one payment ouch
-
I found this remapped car it's a 05 blob eye 2.0 and its got a good price http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=321677747035 I do want the 07 Hawkeye but its a 2.5 Pros and cons to owning the 2.5 and 2.0 turbo please
-
I want a 2.0 turbo but they all seam to be bug eye, i cant find any hawke eyes So i either buy a 2.5 Hawk eye, or a 2.0 bugeye what are the disadvantages to the 2.5 ? how often does the engine need rebuilding/ maintenance etc ?
-
Thanks for the advice guys, so i looks like i need one regestered over 2005 to avoid the tax bracket and idealy a 2.0 turbo I want a hawk shape, but they are all over 50k, is 117k reliable ? how many miles can you put on these things ? I have never bought a car with a mileage over 55k I always sell my cars when they get to 70k http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-SUBARU-IMPREZA-WRX-2-5-HAWKEYE-PRO-DRIVE-PX-COSWORTH-MK1-OR-2-ESCORT-/231489367684?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35e5d76e84 that one looks great but 117 is a lot to me For me it has to be an Imprezza Hawkeye WRX 2005 and above 2.0 ltr now to avoid tax Seen this : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Impreza-2-0-WRX-PRO-DRIVE-RALLY-BLUE-2005-FACELIFT-/141576418044?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20f69cb2fc But i can say to the insurance that that is standard and has no mods ? or can i ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-06-REG-Subaru-Impreza-2-5-WRX-TURBO-4WD-227BHP-4-DOOR-LOW-87-000-MILES-/151587692653?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item234b54a06d That ones caught my eye but the millage is a little bit high - 87k http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-wrx/subaru-impreza-im5-wrx-type-uk-2006/3677339 Too many mods to run past insurance as unmodified
-
why is that ? I cant find a decent scooby wrx turbo for less than 6k, they all appear to be at that price range found this one near liverpool : http://www.gumtree.com/p/subaru/subaru-impreza-wrxm-57-reg-low-milage/1099796262 Looks like an STI but doesnt say, has the badges Do i have to declare those alloys ?
-
At least i can still get the wrx and then worry about vnyls in a years time
-
I have used gum tree and auto trader and that one i seen for £6.5k is the only decent one i have seen i want one under 80k on the clock at least.
-
What is plummeting in value the WRX or STI or Subaru in general ?
-
Ok guys So good news I got the loan from the bank as a personal loan so i can spend it where i want got £6k burning a hole in my wallet help me out please i do like the one i linked for 6.5k I do think this is an excellent example : http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201502110872476/sort/default/price-to/6500/postcode/e125jn/maximum-mileage/up_to_80000_miles/make/subaru/maximum-age/up_to_9_years_old/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/model/impreza/usedcars/radius/1500/page/5?logcode=p Is it paying too much ? Its completely standard so i wouldnt need any specialist insurance The cheepest wrx turbo i can find second hand is £5k like this one: http://www.gumtree.com/p/subaru/2006-06-reg-subaru-impreza-2.5-wrx-turbo-4wd.-227bhp-4-door.-low-87-000-miles.-heated-seats.-px-/1101131182 and thats got 88k on the clock is it worth paying 1.5 k more and getting a car with 50 on the clock and full service history ?
-
Sad news :( No insurance company will insure the car with Vinyl All the specialist insurers require the car to be owned and driven for a year before they can insure me Adrian Flux have quoted £3100 with vinyl and a £3000 excess !! Churchill and privilege are both £1000 fully comp for the car undecorated !
-
Thanks will give them a call on monday lunch time and see what they quote me, no one does insurance on just wrapping kinda annoying. That is awesome ! your guaranteed to not hit anything (yes its a storm trooper joke i love star wars too) I want this bad boy on the bonnet :

crimson replied to Th4neuk's topic in General Subaru Chat
Is it tacky to get the actual gages that hang from the door pillar ? Or is it best to get the app and put it though your phone ? What head unit allow the use of that app ? Thats rather cool -
Got this one in mind then as a turbo : Bank loan states that it must be from a dealer they have tightened down big time : http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201502110872476/sort/default/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/postcode/e125jn/maximum-mileage/up_to_70000_miles/page/5/make/subaru/radius/1501/price-to/7000/usedcars/model/impreza/maximum-age/up_to_9_years_old/image-id/2e47f9be34eb3c06d4aa9001084028ad?logcode=p thats one i like but i know i can get the same specs from a private seller for £5k Is it worth buying from a dealer and paying £6.5k, 56 plate and 50 on the clock, its bog standard so i dont have to declare anything to insurance.

i am 28 years old with 4 years NBC the insurance difference between turbo and non turbo is £100 so not a lot saved. So petrol between a 2.5 turbo and 2.0 non turbo is not different i would have thought that at 70 mph it would destroy petrol ? It wouldnt take me a year to save i would not want to tie down my NBC for a year, is what i meant I already maxed out my credit cards for my flat deposit Has to be an Impreza when i was growing up i had the colin mcrae rally version as a poster on my wall
-
I too am buying one soon looking at a 2007 rx or a wrx turbo depending on trade I found this guide very useful : http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/1619-help-check-guide-buying-1st-subaru/

The car would need to be an everyday car get me to work when i am not cycling and take the family out, it would be a weekend car mostly so i wouldn't mind if i got the turbo, but then sense and rationality suggests a 2.0 replica 1 for fuel economy and 2 for the reduced road tax i have spoken to the dealers for the black one he said he would do £5700 over the phone, but if i came in person he could see what he could do i hinted at 5500 and he said come down today and you can get it at that : http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201501280503053/sort/default/maximum-age/up_to_9_years_old/page/5/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/postcode/e125jn/price-to/7000/maximum-mileage/up_to_80000_miles/usedcars/model/impreza/radius/1500/make/subaru?logcode=p So here's my observations It has a complete STI body kit on it even down to the headlights, pro drive an all 1. its a 2 ltr so petrol wont be bad 2. £285 road tax Do i have to declare the body kit to insurance ? Guy on the phone says no, you tell them we sold it to you like that as standard and you dont know the difference then again he is a car salesman he would tell me van diesel drove it to sell a car OR I save up on my own and then buy a car from a private seller for £4k i can get a turbo wrx but that would be a year from now and i dont want to tie down my no claims to my current car Edit* Look what i found !!! Crafty bugger ! http://www.gumtree.com/p/subaru/impreza-2.0-rx-only-50k-miles-sti-prodrive-extras-main-dealer-history-/1098453220

Can you name me any of the insurance companies Adrian Flux have quoted £3k with a change to alloy wheels and spoiler Unchanged its around £1100 now that i have called to confirm The problem is now no one does insurance for vinyl wraps, they all stated that they would decline the insurance if any stickers even the WRC ones were put on it ! I have phoned 4 major insurers : Adrian flux, privilege, My motor quote and Churchill everyone is stating that its a performance enhancing mod !
