Yes mate unfortunately I made the stupid decision to pick a car up I'd just bought a couple of years ago without insurance. He lived 10 minutes down the road and I was pulled outside my house. Harsh lesson learnt. Got 6 points and a £500 fine.

I'm going to phone Sky Insurance tomorrow morning see what kind of quote they can put on the table. Got around 4 months until I get my Scooby so there's plenty of time to hunt down a good insurer at the right price.

Sorry I wasn't clear I didn't mean a specialist insurer I more meant someone that would give me a cheaper price and not group me in with everyone else on the road. My quotes on non turbos are around £1000 and turbos are upwards of £2600.

I'd love to own a turbo but unless someone can point me in the right direction to a specialist insurer that will give me a good price it just not going to happen. I will be getting prices on a turbo but so far the standard comparison websites haven't given me much hope

Thanks for the welcomes. I'm super excited about getting my first Scooby. I'm taking myself off the road from Thursday to get some extra funds together. Going to kill me not driving but I'll keep my eye on the prize.

Yeah I've been having a look through the buyers guide which has been really handy as I'm putting a checklist together for when I start looking. Really looking forward to owning an Impreza it's an iconic car and I'm lucky to say it's finally within my reach :)

Hi everyone. My names Dan, I'm 25 and live in Sunderland. After much thought and getting insurance quotes (plus looking at space for my kids) I've decided to buy an Impreza as my next car. I'll be getting a 2.0 non turbo. Been part of the car scene for years but I'm new to Subarus and really know nothing about them. Decided to join this forum to get myself clued up before I buy.
