For a long while now my sf forester has a rather annoying feeling of lack of power or a miss fire, it boosts to correct pressure everytime but some days you can feel it boosting, other days it's just rather subtle more like a n/a, done the usual checks and I'm thinking fuel pump not keeping up some times, but also when I fill up there's a lot of air hiss when I remove the cap, so I'm wondering if it sounds like it could be related? Ie tank not breathing properly and not allowing enough fuel to engine, I've looked but can't figure out how it breathes cos of the stupid evap canister, can this be removed or does anyone know how to check it? Many thanks, Ben

Family get together in Munich (don't ask, seemed a good idea to turn it into a decent drive since I don't like flying) as for the V power... Don't use it much here, as much as I know i should I can't imagine the previous owners running it on it and it's done 140k so pretty convinced the damage has already been done lol

Anyone driven their subaru round Europe? Is it much hassle getting organised? Relatives providing accommodation so no hotels etc needed just wondering what's required car wise and how advisable it is in a sf forester? Been to the Isle of Wight in it last year from Cumbria and it didn't skip a beat, apart from a suspect dodgy fuel pump causing surging problems on the motorway, any experiences welcomed :-)

Does anyone know where to get a replacement key fob, just the plastic casing not the key or electronics, mines a 2 button with a rubber casing around it and it's all fallen to bits and tatty, tried eBay and Google but can't find any like mine :-/ haven't tried subaru yet but I imagine they'll want and arm and a leg for one

pretty much what I'm after @stants what make is yours? I'm a pioneer fan myself but they look a bit crap tbh...

Anyone ever used an underseat subwoofer in there subaru? Don't want to waste space in boot with a decent set up but would like a touch more, I've already upgraded front door speakers and plan to amp them soon, read mixed reviews on these types of subwoofer online but seems to be people comparing them to a 'real' subwoofer which obviously won't be as good, are they a complete waste of money?
-
To be honest I just fit 2 way coax as it was the easiest thing to do at the time, my car doesn't have tweeters in the door even though the wires there but that just comes from the main speakers no crossover, these speakers sound good enough just after a bit more power, but if the underseat subs are half decent I think I'll get one one day once house move is over with and I have some money's available. I listen to all sorts of music and sometimes like to have the windows rattling :-) got a sub In the loft but as I said I want to keep my boot space and don't have the patience to custom build something lol

I've just upgraded my front door speakers and I've got an after market hu already, the speakers distort at about 3/4 volume just like the standard ones did, am i right in thinking this is because the hu is essentially under powered? and amping them would help? as much as i want a sub I'm not sure where to put it in my forester as id like to keep the boot space, so just looking to get the best i can (already got an amp waiting) also has anyone any experience with underseat subs? are they worth the money considering the limited space or just like a !Removed! on a windy day? much thanks :-)

How can I check my awd and center diff etc are fine? Jacked one front wheel up and it moves slightly then I get strong resistance, what I expected, but both fronts Jacked up and rear on floor I can spin each wheel right round and the opposite wheel turns in the opposite direction, is that right? I was under the assumption that I'd still get resistance from both wheels, many thanks in advance

Cheers for that I'll have a look at the injectors when I venture out

I'm totally confused haha, just gonna match parts up based on looks when I need bits lol, can't quite make out the number on the turbo but I think it is tf03,wjll look when I get to work and get a mirror down there, don't worry I'll be asking many more questions I assure you haha

So it'll be a phase one then, makes life easier thanks :-) it's an ej205 in mine is that anything different or just pretty much the same? Can find a turbo on eBay for 80-100 quid which isn't too bad but it's long term project so just gaining knowledge at the moment
-
Not sure if your talking to me or not savage but since its an old thread I'll answer anyway lol, I'm aware about the remap but thinking it would be alright to drive to the mappers as long as I kept it off boost, unsure about colour of injectors and again don't know what phase imprezza, I think it's the classic but most images online show classics with coil pack and leads not coil on plug like my car has, it's a confusing world of subarus out there

Sorry to bump an old post, what else would be needed to fit a td04?just pipe work to intercooler and air box or more?

best start to power upgrades
nitro12 replied to nitro12's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Cheers stants, it's already had the second cat removed so just the one in the downpipe remaining, is it a walbro 342 fuel pump I need? Seems to be the number that floating around various sites, is a td04 a simple unbolt old one and bolt new one on job? Or is there other things that need to be done to fit it, are injectors not worth it around this stage? Gonna get a fuel pump done first and panel filter seen as they can be done without anything else needing being done -

Thanks for the replies, I'll keep the old cat like you said for mot time, it's a UK model stants, and was looking for better driveability more than dyno figures, would doing the fuel pump and air filter be worth it before remap or would it cause issues like doing a decat pre map? Is one upgraded fuel pump the same as all or does anyone know what to look for when choosing one? And I'm better off going fuel pump and air filter then decat then remap? -
evening, I've got a 2001 forester s turbo, ej205 engine and I'm wanting to make a start on some lower level power mods. I'm going to get it remapped once funds allow but is it worth doing it as standard or better off upgrading some bits first? moneys tight so I've gotta get the biggest boost for the money and its my only car so can't afford to do everything in one go. Plans are a decat as soon as, is a panel filter upgrade worth the money over standard air filter? what about fuel pump/ injectors? not thinking bigger turbo etc at the moment just wanting to make a start, theres that many variants of engine and models etc i can't figure out which injectors would be needed or if there even worth it at this point, any pointers would be great thanks (I've looked through the typical upgrade path threads but don't think they apply to my model)

Anyone know anywhere to get decent water proof seat covers for the rear seats? I've ebayed and only found universal ones which don't fit properly ie no cut out for the seat belts coming though the lower bench, gonna ring subaru on Monday but I imagine they'll be an arm and a leg

Boost gauge vacuum pipe location confusion
nitro12 replied to nitro12's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
I'll try the spray bottle, it's a UK one and I've checked gasket in recirc valve, that's OK, boost solenoid I'm unsure about because it doesn't click when the green connectors are connected but seems like it pulls well enough? Saying that I've never driven another turbo subaru to compare, if solenoid wasn't working would it not stop the turbo from boosting at all? -
Boost gauge vacuum pipe location confusion
nitro12 replied to nitro12's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Yer think it's about that in bar, it's holding boost pressure when driving but haven't done a boost leak check but checked visually and seem alright, any quick ways of checking it without buying a pressure tester or making one? -
Boost gauge vacuum pipe location confusion
nitro12 replied to nitro12's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Cheers for all the help, finally got it sorted, turns out cheap boost gauges aren't worth the effort haha, anyone know what the standard boost pressure should be for a 2001 model? Only getting about 7psi, is this about right? -
Boost gauge vacuum pipe location confusion

Been doing some reading and think I may have it plugged in correctly I'm just a bit thick and didn't actual know how to read my gauge, never occurred that it should read vacuum on idle... Cheers for all the help though
