  1. Also for anyone who might be interested we islanders have no motorway and only the one almost strait 1000yd stretch of dual cartridge way so if u enjoy driving A or B roads and some good scenery you should enjoy it
  2. i would be well up for that loads of great photo spots on the island some good a few great but some very **** roads. we have quite a good car scene on the island and im sure we could get quite a few together :D il keep eye out for a sweet spot while looking for a motor lol
  3. thats great to hear - just been eyeing up Scotts in the for sale section iv been in a 380hp classic and loved it! might be a bit different to drive tho haha cheers again everyone :D
  4. Hi Scotty any chance you could email me some more pictures? and any more info please
  5. cheers mate il check them out :)
  6. over all cost isnt such a big factor at the end of the day il spend what iv got to spend till im happyunfortunately if not got ££££ to hand a garage to sort it all out for me, it will be a targeted approach of save, buy, fit, map and repeat all major mods would be set up properly with supporting mods and mapped in i purely wanted to make sure there wasn’t any fundamental differences between the turbo 2000, WRX and STI that would make any of them unsuitable for the build i dont want you thinking iv just picked this number and dont know that alot is involved in getting there iv prepared for long nights, empty wallets, cut knuckles and plenty of tea haha
  7. yer iv used confused, gocompare ect and rang round a few and all seem to be there or there abouts :S so new head but as you said save down time plus i can get some porting and polishing done without down time too - so good so far id be more than happy to start with 220 :D so the long and short is buy as clean a car as possable and one way or another i can get close to my target
  8. Cheers chris sorry i forgot to mention the car will be a classic but that info is handy none the less and as it will be a classic a 6 speed swap will be on the cards already and the same goes for brakes, turbo, fmic ect what i really want to know is is there anything such as weaker casings ect in a UK 2000 that would make the turbo 2000 unsuitable for my build? the STI would be great but as savage said i would be removing most the STI parts to upgrade them to reach 450 anyway so i could save 1k and buy the 2000 and just start from there rather than having STI do some of the work already for me
  9. So iv been thinking about the advice given by savage regarding my project basically il looking at building a 450hp car and have been planning on using a STI as a base ( see what i did there) to build from, savage however rightly advised me that i might be better of buying a cheaper WRX to use as my base as most STI parts would be replaced in the build process. so my question is are there any down sides to using a - UK turbo 2000, WRX or STI ? are there any to avoid ect? the uk 2000 and STI and the cheaper of the 3 for me to insure followed £400 later by the WRX the uk 2000 is also a lot cheaper to buy but are there any fundamental differences Casings ect that would prevent me using a UK 2000 for my build ? I will be replacing most parts anyway pistons, rods, maybe even a stroker kit ect all suggestions and Info welcome :D:D:D
  10. an Isle of wight meet would be good! dunno if everyone would be up for paying the ferry fares tho lol fingers crossed it shouldnt be too long but as soon as i know il let you know :D
  11. Ooopsie Tidgy what happened there then? not too much damage i hope?
  12. love the centre grill and scoob glow - not too NFS lol
  13. O that's **** mate hope ya feel better soon
  14. That's interesting to hear, deffo something il have to look into Not sure where on the island does geo set ups either :s And I bet it is!! No point having the power if you can't put it down!
  15. but i got to agree with you Boozy I'm not really one for Stance
  16. looks like there are some lovely motors there! can't wait to get back on the road so i can start going to some of these shows :(
  17. Looking very nice savage! Iv never really paid these camber bolts much attention as I'm always thought them to be more of a stance item, never really through about the improvement in road holding etc to be had from them, is the improvement notable? or is this coupled with other supporting mods? again great thread savage.
  18. Interesting how the company announced massive losses just before the recall!
  19. thank you Jay cant wait to get started! just got to get the boring saving part out the way
  20. A Labour of love right? i had read on here about the gearboxs being good till about 350, i have heard about the 6 speed swap and that would definatly be something id factor in ( more research to do :) ) my plan would be do the brakes either go for new age bremos if money will strech if not 4 pots till it will or power demands ir then shoot for 350, do the gearbox, after that id probably split the engine new forged pistons, rods etc all new bearings and gaskets and have the cyclinders done. then when i know the engine and running gear will take it 100% i would start pushing it higher bigger turbo ect always good to know ya limits lol are there any known limits for running gear hardware drive & prob shafts, CV joints ect?
  21. sorry for the late reply been sleeping off another night shift thats exactly what I'm looking for :) Hi savage thank thanks for the welcome from what i have read and learnt so far brakes would be on the agenda, as for drive train thats something i still need to do some research on ( any links would be very welcome ;) ) the overall cost isn't something I'm overly concerning my self with as this will be a Slow but steady ( if the kids allow lol ) build. The BHP isn't my main focus tho also want to insure the cars tin worm free and everything is 100% looks, handling and performance wise. i want this to be as "no expense spared" as i can manage without upsetting her at home. I did look at the WRX but for some reason they are about £400 more for me to insure than a STi! :S i would also like to start with as high spec platform as possible had i been planning or buying a great amount of parts and loosing all the STi parts over a month or two i would probably go for the WRX but as i said this isn't going to be a over night thing unfortunately. but defiantly food for thought thank you savage. my biggest problem for the moment will come when i start wanting to view cars as its going to cost me £20-£60 just to get off this !Removed! island! and that only gets me to so'ton or pompy
  22. O il take my time I live in the town centre and have been walking the 25 mins to work since I got rid of my last motor so I don't mind sticking to foot power till the right one comes along also Iv never paid more that £500 for a car before and paid for it in the long run and don't want to end up spending my tuning cash on just keeping her on the road
  23. ASAP really, the long story is iv been off the road completely for about a year and a half, so i have nothing to trade in and have to save from scratch :( so iv packed in smoking taking all the extra shifts i can and cancelled xmas ( unless i get the scoob first haha ) unfortunatly saving money with 2 kids under 6, a misses who doesnt work and starts uni in sept is slow progress and im sure you can understand.
  24. impressive gains with just the zorst!
  25. morning stants and thank you, again iv had great pleasure reading your build thread also ( tbh iv read all the classic ones haha) cant wait to start my own, just waiting on the pennies
