  1. I think? the previous owner (my Brother) was getting about 26mpg local. I can't ask him; as he died on the 4th of October. What sort of mileage do most people get out of a Subaru outback AWD ? mine has done 57000, miles - Anyone with a 2,5..
  2. Hi Robson, Know nothing about the Subaru your interested in. But welcome to the Subaru Forum..
  3. Batteries have gone in my key's; (both of them) so just use key to lock and unlock. Alarm won't work but vehicle is still immobilised when doors are locked. I'll probably get some batteries one day. eBay have several places in their ad's for key repairs etc..
  4. I was offerred £3000 . 00 for the plate on my Outback : 50 70 MX. I tuned it down one of the Motor-Cross guys reckoned it was worth at least £5000 . 00 I guess a number plate is only worth what someone will pay for it?
  5. Freezer it is then :D or maybe I'll phone the dealer
  6. Hi Greenmamba, Thanks for the help; and the pdf loads OK. Only the rear fog lights don't come on. I'll have a look for those screws up where the ash-tray sits. Your help appreciated.. M
  7. Searched the internet and youtube for guidance on how to remove the fog light switch - "nothing" no-one seems to know how to remove the switch.
  8. My keys are like this one on eBay .. this company repairs your own keys.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/191332719810?dest=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fitm%2F191332719810
  9. 2002 Subaru Outback AWD. How to do? How do I remove the Fog Light Switch for the rear fog lights? The front fog lights work perfectly; but the rear fog lights don't; we've tested the lights and they are OK, plus connections.. Must be a wire off the switch or maybe the switch itself? How do I remove the switch without damaging it? help and advise appreciated.. M
  10. When disconnecting your car battery; then reconnecting it, do you need the wireless (Radio) code to get the radio working again? if so; where do you find the code for the radio? 2002 Subaru Outback AWD..
  11. Hi, Just acquired my 2002 Subaru Outback AWD. So cannot recommend a battery; but would be interested to find out what you eventually bought? I always worry about the vehicle starting during the winter months.
  12. I have a Honda Civic, My No Claims Bonus is on my Honda. So I rang my insurance provider (Tesco Bank Insurance) about my recently acquired 2002 Subaru Legacy outback AWD they quoted me with a NIL NCD, for the Subaru Outback Full Comp = £250.00 I thought this was an excellent quote considering there was no NCD to lower the cost. I'm happy with Tesco car insurance.
  13. Update.. Re-connected the cable; but it had stretched, so we put a very thin shim behind the lock nut holding the cable at the gearbox end. PERFECT.. High and Low working just fine. Not too difficult a job either. Phoned Main Dealer to price the cable ?? shock horror ; the cable was £128. and fitted would be £200. saved some money with just a thin alloy shim.
  14. Update for everyone on the Key's . New battery for key at Main Dealer = £6-00 For a new Key = £300 - 00 Told me it has to be programmed etc..
  15. Hi Larry, My remote is part of the key itself; "Alpha Corp COJ12." not sure what that means? I'm thinking it may need to be done by a dealer? M
  16. I also need a new battery replacement in my key remote control; and possibly a spare key; as one of my key's is damaged. what would it cost at a dealership to have a new battery put in the remote; any ideas of the possible cost?
  17. TESCO BANK INSURANCE . I've just had a quote for my 2002 Subaru Outback AWD 2.5 petrol engine of £250 for a years insurance. I couldn't use my no claims bonus because I'd used it on my other vehicle. BTW I'm 67, so worth trying the Tesco bank Insurance for a quote.
  18. Hi Darren, I'm also new to this group; but found it very friendly and helpful. Like to see some photos of your Subaru ..
  19. UP-DATE, Sorted by putting a thin alloy shim behind the cable arm looking nut; everything works just fine now..
  20. Hi Paul, Sorry won't be possible for me to come along to the meet tomorrow; but will certainly look out for future meet-up's. hope you guy's have good day ogling all the nice Subaru's that turn up. Regards M
  21. I was thinking there would be some kind of adjustment. Fingers crossed there is. Thanks for your help. M
  22. HI all, I recently put a post on the OUTBACK AWD club forum. Re High - Low Lever? I've since discovered that the pin on the gearbox end of the cable was missing. I'll fix I thought!! Huh Mmm, not much room to get your hands in there; so asked someone I know (a Mechanic on Rally Cars) to have a look at it, he found a pin that fitted perfectly; and selecting Low (lever up and back) no problem. But selecting High (lever down and forward) wouldn't quite select; it left a grinding noise; and was unable to drive in gear. I Can however, select high range by using a bar or shaft of a strong screwdriver to push the connection above the gearbox housing to select high range; and it works perfectly .. So nothing wrong with High or Low Range! I'm thinking the cable has stretched over the years from lack of use, the previous owner only ever used high range on the vehicle. Q, has anyone changed one of these cables? Q, how difficult is it to do? Q, or maybe take it to a Subaru dealer? Q, Would that be an expensive job at a Subaru Garage? Any help or advise on this please. I think Keith Price at Abergavenny is the nearest Subaru Dealer.. Thanks in advance M
  23. She loves you Paul, Patience is a virtue we need more and more these days. Be nice. BTW Noticed; your from Neath. I'm at Merthyr Tydfil.
