MPG? What do you get from a 2.5 outback AWD?
I think? the previous owner (my Brother) was getting about 26mpg local. I can't ask him; as he died on the 4th of October. What sort of mileage do most people get out of a Subaru outback AWD ? mine has done 57000, miles - Anyone with a 2,5..

Remote Key fail, best/easiest place to get it fixed
Batteries have gone in my key's; (both of them) so just use key to lock and unlock. Alarm won't work but vehicle is still immobilised when doors are locked. I'll probably get some batteries one day. eBay have several places in their ad's for key repairs etc..

FOG LIGHT SWITCHES - How to remove & Replace?
2002 Subaru Outback AWD. How to do? How do I remove the Fog Light Switch for the rear fog lights? The front fog lights work perfectly; but the rear fog lights don't; we've tested the lights and they are OK, plus connections.. Must be a wire off the switch or maybe the switch itself? How do I remove the switch without damaging it? help and advise appreciated.. M

Please recommend a decent battery for my Legacy.
Hi, Just acquired my 2002 Subaru Outback AWD. So cannot recommend a battery; but would be interested to find out what you eventually bought? I always worry about the vehicle starting during the winter months.

2.5 outback insurance
I have a Honda Civic, My No Claims Bonus is on my Honda. So I rang my insurance provider (Tesco Bank Insurance) about my recently acquired 2002 Subaru Legacy outback AWD they quoted me with a NIL NCD, for the Subaru Outback Full Comp = £250.00 I thought this was an excellent quote considering there was no NCD to lower the cost. I'm happy with Tesco car insurance.

High & Low Lever? on Outback AWD
Update.. Re-connected the cable; but it had stretched, so we put a very thin shim behind the lock nut holding the cable at the gearbox end. PERFECT.. High and Low working just fine. Not too difficult a job either. Phoned Main Dealer to price the cable ?? shock horror ; the cable was £128. and fitted would be £200. saved some money with just a thin alloy shim.

I also need a new battery replacement in my key remote control; and possibly a spare key; as one of my key's is damaged. what would it cost at a dealership to have a new battery put in the remote; any ideas of the possible cost?

Insurance ... again
TESCO BANK INSURANCE . I've just had a quote for my 2002 Subaru Outback AWD 2.5 petrol engine of £250 for a years insurance. I couldn't use my no claims bonus because I'd used it on my other vehicle. BTW I'm 67, so worth trying the Tesco bank Insurance for a quote.

High & Low Lever? on Outback AWD : CABLE STRETCHED
HI all, I recently put a post on the OUTBACK AWD club forum. Re High - Low Lever? I've since discovered that the pin on the gearbox end of the cable was missing. I'll fix I thought!! Huh Mmm, not much room to get your hands in there; so asked someone I know (a Mechanic on Rally Cars) to have a look at it, he found a pin that fitted perfectly; and selecting Low (lever up and back) no problem. But selecting High (lever down and forward) wouldn't quite select; it left a grinding noise; and was unable to drive in gear. I Can however, select high range by using a bar or shaft of a strong screwdriver to push the connection above the gearbox housing to select high range; and it works perfectly .. So nothing wrong with High or Low Range! I'm thinking the cable has stretched over the years from lack of use, the previous owner only ever used high range on the vehicle. Q, has anyone changed one of these cables? Q, how difficult is it to do? Q, or maybe take it to a Subaru dealer? Q, Would that be an expensive job at a Subaru Garage? Any help or advise on this please. I think Keith Price at Abergavenny is the nearest Subaru Dealer.. Thanks in advance M
