  1. I've had my 3.0 for 6 months now and it's fuel consumption has reduced quite a bit. It's a Jap import so it may have sat around for a while and the roads in Japan are not speedtracks by any stretch of the imagination. My initial consumption was around 9.5km/l - say 27mpg which was not marvellous - my previous 3.8 litre Holden Commodore beat that hands down. Yesterday I drove from Auckland to home in 7 hours and got 12.6km/l - 35mpg - which I thought was pretty good - certainly not cruising and with a load in the back. It feels like it's loosened up quite a bit. I don't drive it in "Eco" unless the road is dead flat - let the revs die to below 2000 and it bogs.
  2. No problems with my high stop light. Even has all the LED's working!
  3. Hi guys, I bought my Japanese import Outback with a replacement radio fitted as the Japanese FM band only goes from 76 to 86Mhz or thereabouts. The shop that did the replacing fitted a ghastly Sony thing that lights up like Blackpool Illuminations. I found an original radio on our local auction web site that looked the real thing and took about an hour to fit. A 'band expander' will be fitted if I can solve this problem. Unfortunately the steering wheel buttons still don't work but the radio works well and the 6CD player - and a minidisc player too, except I don't have any! The main problem is that the aircon/heater controls all work but the display is dead. All the plugs are fitted except one that only has three wires to it - the plug that fits the old controller is fitted to the new radio but the separate box is not transferable. Any help gratefully received. Pix. Suby 1 - the radio on the aucton site. Suby 2 - The radio and controller fitted on purchase Suby 3 - the auction radio fitted in the car. Cheers - Martin
  4. Japanese 2006 H6 like the 2008 US version, non-hoon! 32mpg/11.5km/litre around town, cruisin' at 100k's about 12.5km/litre = 35mpg. Keep the tyres pumped up, 32psi, 225kPa.
  5. Thanks, Greenmamba, I found it. I was being led astray by the US version of the owners handbook without going to look at the car. The pic from the handbook doesn't show anything more than the one symbol for the fogs, obviously the hi-intensity light is a Japanese and Euro thing. Cheers - Martin
  6. My problem too. 2006 Japanese import, matches a 2008 model in the US. ( As usual with the Jap imports you don't get the owners manual. The salesman says " that would be no good to you, it's all in Japanese" Little does he know that I work with lots of girls who speak Japanese... ) The hi-intensity tail light doesn't work - there is no switch by the drivers right knee for foglamps, the switch is on the main light lever with all the other gizmos. I pulled the cover off inside the cargo door and unplugged the light from the wiring but I can't get the lamps to light on an external power supply but I didn't push it too hard - the power supply went into current limit! There were no volts on the plug when I turned on the fog lamps - what am I missing? Cheers - Martin
  7. Hi Guys, Reasonably new Subaru owner, had my Outlook from August 2015. A few snags after purchase sorted by my local backyard mechanic who is actually a very good guy who runs a Legacy and a new Impreza and his son works for the nearby Subaru agent so I guess he knows his way around. Front CV joints - one split, one very hard so wasn't long for this world. Main problem was a good "klunk" from the right rear which took a while to correctly diagnose and fix - I've put an entry in a forum topic about this. Best regards to all - Martin.
