  1. the manual just says w5w, i've ordered them anyway.
  2. cheers jay, just what i wanted, will order 'em now. (btw top motor m8).
  3. I've had a mooch but i'm confused...W5W,T10,501,CANBUS? any suggs? i don't think mine shows an error as 1 bulb is gone but no warning.
  4. it does seem a bit of a pain considering bulbs are so important. Nice tickle for dealers!
  5. ok,i'll try that, any advice on a bulb upgrade? i only want to do it once.
  6. Hi, the manual says it's awkward and to go to main dealer, can i do it myself? and how?
  7. :D i've just been and picked her up :D drives great- all good :D mechanic said it's a crackin engine :D
  8. have i got to notify DVLA that i've changed the engine?
  9. so far so good, hope i ain't jinxed it-lol :)
  10. some good news, the guy who's fitting the engine is a bit bogged down with work(sign of a good mechanic?) and will be fitting it tomorrow, but while i've been waiting i've been reading thru forums and decided to do the 'oil pump mod' while the engine is still out,my good luck was to find a brand spanking OEM timing belt, this made me look deeper and i believe this engine had JUST had it's major service at subaru, everything clean and tidy. Result :D
  11. bought from a ropey p***k of a trader as "mechanically sound", a used CARS dealer in BATH.(not to be specific BEWARE! ) but turned out to be full of STP to hide the noise of the worn big ends (took so called mechanic but the stp oil had him!). Hopefully got it sorted soon-nearly scrapped it i was that p****d off . ,
  12. just to show why i wanted her back on the road!
  13. oh well, i've prob noticed it more after driving diesel's for the last 10 years, getting up and running gotta be my main concern for now i'll keep y'all posted how things go, :)
  14. just normal use for me, will get the degreaser on the case as i do like a car to look cared for, but not quite ocd as i'm an angler and that would be a nightmare i just hope i can get the mpg down aswell, i don't know if the big ends play a part in it but it certainly likes a drink, will a 'remap' help bring the mpg down after the swap?
  15. well so far so good anyway, like you say jay-it should be a straight swap, i get the engine on saturday and its fitted on monday, should i prepare it in any way prior to fitting? will anything be easier while the engine is out?
  16. i cancelled that engine and was lucky enough to find the exact same engine as mine :D, cost £400 but low mileage and most ancillaries left on so worth the extra, i'm glad i asked on here now,i feel better about this already so thanx for your advice guys ;)
  17. i now no that the ej202 is SOHC and the ej201 is DOHC, can i fit either?
  18. i'm confused whats the crack with these engine codes? will an ej201 replace an ej202 without any problems or need to change summat? my m8 's telling me that the first bit is what counts...the ej20 but i would like to know before the courier sets off tomorrow?
  19. i will do as you say odessey, the engine comes stripped of all the ancillaries so i wasn't sure which ones should be renewed while i've got the chance, the timing belt was the only one i knew for certain.
  20. i've made the decision and bought a used but guaranteed engine for £270 +£50 delivery from the auction site , a friend of a friend will be putting it in for me on monday for £150, so hopefully back on track soon. cheapest way i could find out rather than trashing an otherwise lovely motor, definately cheaper than getting another car! any thoughts on what will need renewing with the engine swap? if it ain't broke don't fix it?,
  21. thanx for your opinions
  22. i want it for towing my boat and off road for fishing, i like the idea of an auto but are they any good?
