Hi folks, I have an air con gas canister with a “universal” fitting but I tried and it simply doesn’t fit. It’s close! And definitely the correct port. Does Subaru have a different fitting? For the record I have an XV 2012 diesel. Suggestions welcome!

Heya folks. I think I posted a while back about this so apologies if that is so. I am still getting nowhere fast with my issue despite masses of internet searching, my brother in law who is a mechanic looking and even calling my local Subaru dealer. To update, my battery was replaced because the old one died. This caused the stereo to stop working. Theres no fuse issue, as it still has power. It just displays the message "Program is attempting to load please insert SD card". When I bought the car it did not have a card, I wasn't worried as I just thought it was for the sat nav, which frankly, is awful on the Subaru head sets. It looks like the stereo is ok, ie not fried, as it has been "plugged in and checked" but apparently needs its SD card to effectively "boot it up". I found this site: https://subaru.oemdtc.com/TechnicalSupportGuide/MC-10065756-3639.pdf which has a nice list of sd card part numbers, but I think it is for North America and I cannot find anything for sale. To be honest, I would sooner just put a new stereo in, as the Fujitsu piece of crap that is in there (it is the same as the one pictured in that link above) is not a great stereo anyway. But in the days of Can Bus stereos I have no clue what I can fit, if I can fit, and if it will work with the rear camera, which if I am honest is the thing I miss the most. Any ideas? Either on how to rescue my current stereo, or what I can fit in its place? It's driving me nuts!

I have the Garmin 45, I placed mine in the bottom left corner of the windscreen. Really nice camera, but turn off the speed camera warning option because trust me it will drive you nuts.

No need to apologise, I appreciate the input. I’m going to investigate the manual and all possibilities in the weekend when I have all,day to do it, and more to the point some daylight. I will update accordingly, but if anyone else wants to chip in please do!

Hi Eloise an thanks again for your time. I wasn’t present when the battery was changed so can’t say if the stereo was completely off or not. I haven’t checked fuses yet as I work during the week so am waving or weekend and daylight 😃 another peculiar thing i noticed today was if I take the sat nav sd card it suddenly wakes up with a message on screen saying it’s loading please insert card. Perhaps there is an sd card for booting it up? I’ll try to attach a pic. I can’t upload video it seems so imagine a blank screen, randomly flashing whiteish then when I take the card out this message appears (pic attached)

Hi Eloise, it wasn’t jump started, basically the old battery was replaced with a new. Sadly there’s no way to enter any code, just a blank screen that randomly lights up (blank still, just bright) every few seconds. It isn’t to a pattern, just randomn. I’ll check the fuses but is it possible a new battery can surge it and essentially fry it? i don’t miss music such, but the reverse camera I do miss!

Hi all, sorry if this is mentioned anywhere but a search proved fruitless. My battery recently decided to die on me, in the latest freezing weather of course. My brother is a mechanic and saved the day by installing a new battery, so all is well there. However the stereo is no longer working. When I say not working, it basically does not switch on, or light anything but randomnly the screen will flash on then off. Is it buggered? I wonder if it CAN be a fuse as clearly power is it getting to it, if not just to flash the screen every few seconds. Any ideas?
