Hi all, I did a deal on a Foz today. I'm picking it up next week it needs some TLC but nothing major. I had some questions. I believe the Drivetrain is the same as the same as an Impreza STI, which one? It will need new pads soon, and I'll give it a service so need to know what parts to look for. It only has one key, whats the best way to go about adding a second, is there a flip key option for that will work with the remote locking? One of the issues was a whoosing noise from the nearside front window right in the corner near the speaker the door seal looks fine and I can't feel any air coming through, it does have the window spoiler things fitted, so maybe it is that. Any other suggestions? It is missing the parcel shelf, will an SF one fit or is it SG only? Anything else fit? Legacy etc? The red intake is chipped in a few places, is there a touch up paint people are aware of or is the only solution to repaint it. A drivers side electric window isn't working, anyone know if the internals are the same as an Impreza model? I'm thinking about replacing the rear lights with the Facelift ones, They look like they are a bolt on swap is that right? Any suggestions where to get a set? I was also thinking about the later mirrors, with indicators and power folding, but I am guessing this is a bit of a ball ache to wire up, anyone done this? As I don't drive much (I've got motorbikes I use for work and some distance stuff etc.) Running costs that are mileage dependant such as repairs servicing etc. should be fine especially as I'll do a lot of it myself. That's why I ain't bothered about ~25mpg. The 'Static' costs like tax/insurance are what would really put me off, the thought of giving the government £500 a year just to own my car actually makes me feel a bit sick

I'm not to bothered about fuel consumption I only do about 2-3k miles a year it's why I want something fun. Tax is different it changes between 05/06. I think some are £500 a year which I do not want!

Hi All, I'm looking at getting a new car, something big fast and fun. I was initially looking at 525/530 tourings but discovered the Forester STI. I think they look the mutts nuts. I've been doing research and they seem perfect for me although a fair bit over budget. I have more or less decided I'd rather wait and save a bit more to get what I really want. I just had a few questions before I finally give up on the BM's. What tax bracket are they? I assume there is a difference between 05 and 06 models. I'm getting mixed answers online? What's maintenance like? anything to watch or for? I'm fine doing simple stuff like Fluid changes and brakes but I wonder if there are other expensive things that can crop up (clutches and turbos aside) Any major differences between the pre/post facelift? I prefer the looks of the pre and the the tax will be cheaper but I'd like a newer model. Did they have any factory options to look out for? I read somewhere fresh imports need to be remapped to run on UK fuel to prevent detonation, is this true? I assume they need to be run on 97+ can they run on 95 in a pinch? Do they have Isofix seats? I read somewhere they did but I need to confirm. Anything to look for when looking at one? Is getting parts OK? I'm guessing loads of Impreza bits fit, but is there anything Forester Specific that can be a pain? A cheeky request maybe, anyone near South Essex with an STI willing to let me have a look round there car and sit in it? I'm pretty tall and would like to make sure I fit. Normally I wouldn't ask these questions till I was in a position to buy, but I need to decide 100% that this is the car for me and continue saving. My ideal car at the moment is a clean relatively unmodified (not stanced!) 2005 model in blue with gold wheels. Thanks, Chris
