I just purchased a 2010 outback with the 2.0 litre diesel boxer engine. can anyone tell me if it has a timing belt or is it a chain,i've tried to look in the user guide but its either very confusing or i'm as thick as xxxx ......any help much appreciated . But you can give Martin a ring at Sheffield Subaru Services does a lot of our work for people on here if you need it doing. beans 1957 Posted November 18, 2014 Author Share Posted November 18, 2014 Thanks for the reply,I had a feeling it was a belt , I'm waiting for the previous owner to forward some paperwork ,he had the service stamps in the book but the receipts were at his office,the last service was the 96,000 mile its now on 110,000 so i'm hoping its been done, if not, any idea of the price ? stants Posted November 18, 2014 Share Posted November 18, 2014 Around 350-400 quid from a specialist or double that from a dealer [emoji33] I'd say the 35 mile trip is well worth it to visit martin & dave down in sheff. It's just round the corner from the arena and medowhall, easy to get to.
