Subaru XT raising boot floor to fit full sized spare tyre

Featured Replies

I have bought a 2017 Subaru Forester XT. The car will be delivered on Monday next week.

I have also bought a rather expensive full sized spare wheel. It is aluminium, exactly the same as the other wheels on the car.

The Subaru dealer told me that it would fit in the well for the spare wheel. However, it turns out that it won't fit and will stick up a few inches.

Has anyone made a raised boot floor to accommodate a full sized spare wheel in a Subaru Forester? I have seen that someone has done this on line, using some pieces of wood so the wheel sits level.

The other alternative is that they may possibly be able to get a steel spare wheel, which is bigger than a space saver but not full sized, and will fit in the wheel well.

I could just keep the space saver, but I really want a full sized spare wheel. As i will be driving to some fairy remote places sometimes.
