Gartland Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Hi folks quick Q for you. I have a 04 sti uk impreza and it needs 4 new shocks. These are working out about 6/700 quid and I can get a set off middle off the road coilovers for that. But I drive fairly fast and mostly B roads so I don't want to loose the handling just so the car is dropped an inch or so. Whats your thoughts, can you get coilovers that offer a comfy good ride?
quit Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 No they are very harsh mate , they are typical track spec Decent shocks and springs might serve better
Nevell Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 A friend of myn has got some bc coilovers and there really good only problem is , you need to sett height properly and damping rate as they need setting up properly ,and now he has got to change some bushes and a ball joint , because of **** roads and hard coilovers lol , that's why I'm going for sti shocks with lowering springs :-)
quit Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Plus you need a geo set up really when changing suspension
Gartland Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 TBH that's kind off what I am hearing. Must admit I like the look off a low set up but at the end off the day I bought the car to enjoy driving not to look good and lap the town on a sat night lol.
Mr B Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 On B roads you can't beat oem inverted struts really unless spend about 2k Bilstien do some good struts. BC are not the worst coilovers for the money but on B roads it a downgrade on handling grip & you soon be needing them rebuilt. All the cheap coilovers like BC miester R etc are virtually same taiwan !Removed! with no real testing & development on specific models.
