Early Forester Radiator and clutch

Hello chaps, glad to be the member of a new forum, bought my first subaru, a 2000 forester turbo.

Needs a little work, it wants a new radiator. bit where the top coolant pipe connects has snapped off. But no motor factors seem to be able to get hold of one for me. What other cars could I get one off? Does it matter about turbo? Or could I have an impreza one? I know u couldn't use an auto one.. or could and just not use oil cooler..

Also the clutch is slipping quite severely but I will get this sorted in a garage as I have already bought a transmech clutch, was after a exedy one but apparently they're all replicas unless you pay like £300

Last thing, the car whines really loud with increasing rpm, even in neutral Gear. Any idea what this could be?

Sorry to bombard you with questions.

Thanks for any replys

Hi mate welcome, is yours a UK car & can you take a pic of the top of the rad ?

Mine uses a classic impreza shaped rad but it's 3 years older I know uk cars have different shaped rads but don't know when they changed them.

Www.importcarparts.co.uk stocks both types for around a ton.

Exedy blue box clutch kits suitable for up to 300bhp are around 230 From subaru specialists online.

Not sure about the whine is it like a whistling/whine could be the turbo ?

That's good enough mate looks like yours is a UK type rad, does it step down an inch towards the other end ?

Import car parts will have one, just give them a ring as it's easier to avoid any confusion

Mine wasn't listed either but i called them and they said it was the same as a legacy/impreza of the same year, he emailed me a pic of UK type and jdm type rads so I could choose the correct one,

Where abouts are you ? Northern radiators stock them up my way I guess you'll have a similar company near you.

turbo related then, boost leak if lucky.

Look at the 2 diagrams for auto & manual rad & make a decision from that.

Thought I linked manual but see was auto. manual example below

Sorted the rad, managed to get one from Andrew page. Now I've took it to have the clutch fitted a transmech one. Really wanted an exedy clutch but I quickly found out most are replicas. I've taken it into a local clutch and gearbox centre and they've rang me saying they've had a nightmare with the release baring saying it won't clip on? Don't know what this means buy they're blaming it on the poor quality clutch. Should I bite the bullet and fork out a extra £200 for an exedy?

Either take back if can get money back & change for something better such as LUK (about best at price & tests best at torque handling for standard style organic clutches)

Exedy is ok but overrated & overpriced ...

other option is getting another release bearing from either local motorfactor - A BluePrint ADL one as normally ntn release bearing (jap)

or from ICP & stipulate want ntn release bearing , cost is about £30-£38 ...
