Hi just got my first boxer 2011 and wonderd what the best gear box oil to use as its a bit notchy and would like to change before winter 

 

I no its a bit of a known issue so any help to make it better would apricate it

Is it an auto or manual ?

Go on the Castrol website and see what fully synthetic gearbox oil they recommend for it.

Castrol that good though. I no for my Honda Civic type r. People didn't rate them that well

Must admit now I'm driving it daily it's got smoother. Still want to change it though

Look at opie oils we get discount with them too, the millers gear oil is supposed to be on of the best

I do use millers for engine oil actually. I'll take alook

They don't appear to do any for manual model so I've emailed them

Odd,see if they have the crx 75/90 nt fully synth millers stuff, not cheap but like you say the engine oils are good so I can't see the gear oil being too shabby


10% maybe not sure, may be worth speaking to them on phone as last time they gave me a discount code that was more than we'd normally get off

Yeah mate, it takes 5w-30 normally. So yeah no idea why they suggest that.

Ah ok, have a look at the strut tower there should be the vin plate on top it will have the gearbox code on it will start TY5

I'm pretty sure a 75/90 gear oil would be fine

Strange this it's smooth gear change 1 day then the next it can be a nightmare getting into 1st or 2nd

Mine is similar with 1st and reverse.
