Bakerwrx Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Hi guys As usual I'm just after a bit of advice. I'm after a shortshifter for my wrx hatch, the standard throw is far too long and sloppy for my liking. Seen a few online although mostly from US sites (COBB, Kartboy) then saw one on the japspeed website for £70 http://www.japspeed.co.uk/subaru-impreza-08-11-short-shifter.html Anyone have any experience with these?
aucky Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 never used 1 but i was going to get this for my hatch http://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/GB/WRX_Perrin_Short_Shifter_Adapter/SU8_PSP-INR-200_.aspx i would stay away from that on japspeed looks bit of a hacksaw job,cut in half and welded to gether lower down, kartboy get good reviews from the yanks and i follow a couple people on youtube from usa with modded hatch's that have removed the cobb and gone for the kartboy. 1
Bakerwrx Posted March 11, 2016 Author Posted March 11, 2016 How does that Perrin adaptor work? Yeah thats what I thought about the Japspeed one but if it works then maybe its function over form.
aucky Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 the perrin adaptor is much easyer to install, you dont have to take the gear stick out.so if your not good with macanics then its better for you 1
aucky Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 this is how to fit the cobb but it is what you would do to fit the japspeed and kartboy as well, much more work then the perrin.the japspeed is not ajustable either so what ever its like when you fit it is what you get.
Bakerwrx Posted March 11, 2016 Author Posted March 11, 2016 I don't mind getting my hands dirty working on cars but after those vids I think i'd be tempted by the Perrin adaptor, that looks nice and neat. Good value too.
AndyXV Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 ive got a GFB in mine it makes gear changes far better,
Shepbomb Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I have a perrin in my blob, very quick and simple to fit.. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Bakerwrx Posted April 12, 2016 Author Posted April 12, 2016 So I went with the Perrin adaptor. Fitted it yesterday, took about 45mins and I didn't break any plastic trims so thats a bonus. Its adjustable up to a 50% reduction in throw (which is where i have set mine to) and it has massively improved the feel of my gear changing now :D. standard: With adaptor: 2

I like that, did you know www.m-soc.com members get discount at Tarmacsportz as well :) are you a paid member on there too?
kershaw-330s Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Hi did any off you guys but the positive shift kit bushes at the same time? Sent from my Nokia 3310 using Tapatalk
Bakerwrx Posted April 16, 2016 Author Posted April 16, 2016 The perrin kit from tarmac sports comes with poly bushes for the front of the linkage. Is that what you mean? 1
Xander Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Dose the shifter sit any lower with the perin kit? As I like the look of the cobb but the perin sounds like the better option over all. -- I make Films for businesses and people. I also make websites.
Bakerwrx Posted April 16, 2016 Author Posted April 16, 2016 No its the same height it sits a bit further forward though.
