Driveing my Subaru yesterday my engine light came on then the temperature hit the roof then banging noise from engine any advise

:( oh that doesn't sound good at all is the car still making noises or have you not tried to turn it over since Is there any oil leaking ?. But from what I'm guessing either head gasket's gone or big ends.

Yeah doesn't sound good mate that sounds like head gaskets

Depends on what damage it's done really. But I would say anything from £700 to £1000 inc labour, it's a bigish job and takes awhile to fix :( But if it's a mate or someone you know maybe cheaper but around that figure. 

If its the bottom end there was a guy on here selling a full rolling chassis quite cheap and it was an import turbo with engine and Box if that interests you mate?

The aa reckons I dropped a tooth on the left hand side and bent a valve causeing the banging
