Looking at buying a 2.0 D S Legacy estate in the next few months.  Anything to look out for in particular ?  Have read the 2009 onward's seem to be more reliable ?

Many thanks

James

Also Interested in responses to this.
From my research into the Subaru diesel pretty much anything pre 2009 is destined to break a crankshaft (If the internet is to be believed) however ebay/autotrader etc seem to back this up with all the spares or repairs out there being <2009 with a splattering of 2010s.

The Legacy (correct me if i'm wrong) was the first to get the improved engine sometime mid 2009.

Other than this I have no idea what to look out for, all my research was done based on Forester/Impreza diesels resulting in me buying an XV... go figure!

I’d love to know the answer to this question as well. I believe the MY10 facelift models have the euro5 engine but I don’t know to what degree the engine was improve in regards to crankshafts. I’ve got a 10 plate euro5 and have a similar worry
