So managed to convince the better half that a remap is purely for better fuel economy and been given the green light. My car is quite high mileage so not looking at pushing too much through it but decided I'd be better off fitting a sports cat down pipe before mapping.

Is it possible to just fit a sports cat down pipe and leave the rest standard? I know wrx exhausts should fit so that's what I'm looking at fitting
