Mot fail

Featured Replies

Hello, I went in for my mot with my first Impreza and unfortunately failed on cv joint, ball joint and emissions. Are these easy enough to replace also does anyone on here have stock cat on here at all ? For 02 wrx

Cheers

Boo sorry to hear about the fail, when you say cv joint are you on about the whole thing or just the gaitor ?

If the joint I'd suspect you'll need a whole new driveshaft. Have a look at www.importcarparts.co.uk

Both are easy enough to replace if you have the space and tools, otherwise a garage will do the lot for a couple hundred quid,

Hi. With the emissions, did it fail big style or just by a few points? Mine failed a few years ago on emissions but the guy doing it just let it warm up by ticking over. I drove it hard to my MOT last year and it passed with flying colours. Genuine Cats are getting hard to come by and are expensive although they are still about. Depends how much you want to spend, a sports cat might be the better option and last longer.

Impartsb46 eBay seller sometimes sells new downpipes fr alot cheaper than dealers,

Has any of the stock system been removed at all as it comes with 2/3 depending on year /model

As for spots cats I wouldn't hold your breath on it passing as mine never did with a cobra sport system in

Friendly MOT center might be required then if the system isn’t leaking.

Thanks for replying everyone, yeah it says cv joint gaiter insecure and the lambda reading outside specified limit and carbon monoxide excessive. I did buy a sports cat thinking it might work as well. At least I got 2 weeks of driving since last problems 😂

Cv gaitor/boot is about 8 quid from import car parts ball joint shouldn't be much more,

Hopefully both parts that need replacing are on the same side makes

Won’t be to bad if I can get them for that price, yeah both on the off side. Just emissions that are holding me back, is it just the downpipe cat that I would need ? Can’t find any of these stock exhausts on eBay.
