Hi Everone, Hope you are well.My name is Seshu, I have bought a Forster XT couple of days ago from a car super market ( Motorpoint). I noticed that it emits lots of smoke, particularly I noticed in the cameras while reversing the vahicle.. As I am new to this vehicle, I was wondering if this is normal with Subaru XT? I am bit suprised to this for less than 10 moths old vahicle.. Do you think I should take it to a dealer for a check up?

Please advise..

Thx, Seshu

Welcome.

Without seeing the issue it’s difficult to say in all honesty. There’s a few different ways there can be smoke from the exhaust, either oil (will give you a blue-ish smoke usually when you’re accelerating). Alternatively white smoke is water... this can either be coolant, although as you have no other symptoms of this and the car is so new it seems unlikely, or it can simply just be condensation in your exhaust.

Colder and wetter weather this time of year will make that more prominent, if you’re doing a lot of shorter journeys or don’t drive the car that often more will build up and can take a while to “burn” off.

Ultimately though, if you’re unsure take it to a mechanic for peace of mind!

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for your kind response..It coukd be due to the fact that it was not running for at least  past two months or so, since it was on sale with a motor supermarket dealer. I booked with the dealer over weekend just to be safe side.. Apparently it is not emiting smoke any more.. It could be that smoke have been cleared during the 12 mile stretch from home to dealer.

I will keep an eye and see how it goes..

Thx, seshu
