LJ333
Hi. I have just a purchased a Forester SG 2008 XTEn with Subaru FSH. Cam belt was changed at 67,000 miles by Subaru which is over the 50k UK interval. The vehicle is now at 113k. The cautious would say do it now. The oblivious would say what’s a cam belt. Is there a middle ground that says it could be done at the same interval (67,000) ie. 134k ? I know cam belts and WP changes are critical for all cars but the intervals for the SG Foz are different depending on the country of sale (US being the highest at every 105k). I also don’t know if this model is prone or robust with regards to belts/tensioner issues? Any advice gratefully received. Lee
Jay762
Wotcha and welcome - there is a also a time element to consider - how long was it since the belt was changed has the car been sat etc. I change the belts at 40K intervals or when I first get a new motor so I know what I am dealing with, known baseline etc along with a full service, plugs oil, filters etc. IMO get them changed 😉
